Who will be the rookie of the year?

I know there's a prediction thread, but I really want to talk about the rookies only. If I'm crossing a line here, I'm sorry, just close the thread then!

So, who do you think will be the ROY? I'm thinking MJ finally did a great job on drafting this year by selecting Kemba Walker, he's my pick. I think Derrick Williams is the best player in this years draft, but he's already on a stacked team, and he's basically a clone of Michael Beasley, so he won't play as much as the other rookies.. I'm not really impressed by Kyrie Irving yet. Also, I was leaning to Brandon Knight, but there's something about Kemba, I'm still picking him. There are some players I believe have fallen a bit low in this draft (Kawhi Leonard for example), but we'll see.

    What do you think?

Not sure if this is really a "bold" prediction, but I don't think Kemba Walker is going to pan out.

I see Kyrie Irving being Rookie of the Year. He is guaranteed the most playing time. The best rookie is Derrick Williams, but he's not going to see the minutes since he's behind Love & Beasley, and may share minutes with Anthony Randolph.

Irving will have the most to gain/least to lose this season, as he will be thrown out there early, get 30+ minutes early, and will have the ball more than the other rookie point guards.

Kyrie Irving gets my vote, like stated above, he will get the most playing time.

Kyrie barely played in that game. He went 14 and 7 in 19 minutes. I was very surprised he played so little in that game. Does anybody know what the Pistons are doing with Knight? Do they want him to play point guard or shooting guard?

He might not win but he'll be in the top 3. Ricky Rubio. The future.

lmao @ all the Derrick Willams is the best player in the draft.

No, he isn't. Kemba, Knight, and Irving are all better players right now than he is. He is a tweener without a position and will not be able to guard. Thankfully, he won't get exposed because of the depth in Minnesota.

We'll see, Irving's first game he looked scared/nervous and in his second game he played significantly better but the bench for the Cavaliers were playing way too well to insert the starters back in.

I think Rubio will be the player of the year. He has an advantage by having more pro experience and playing with a ton of scorers, but he's also the best pure point guard rookie IMO.

His court vision is not only best among the rookies but is somewhere in the top of all NBA point guards. He just sees things others don't. It's early but vision is something you can judge early. You either have it or you don't.

Kemba Walker. He just needs a chance and the minutes to show what he can do. He's polished, fearless, and a proven winner.

I want the Jimmer to win it, though.

Why are people so big on Rubio? He's done nothing special in the Euroleague. Reading into his history, he was dominant at a young age when playing against other kids, but since then, his stats are very mediocre. I don't know the style of Euroleague play and whatnot, but he can't shoot ( never over 40% in FG% and around 30% on avg in 3pt %) and he's not especially athletic. he doesn't rack up assists and isn't much of a defensive stalwart...is court vision the only thing he has? People say he's gonna be great, but...why?

He played well in the last Olympics, that is when he started turning heads.

I don't know if anyone has said he is going to be great. Most have said he has potential to be the next Steve Nash, but he isn't a can't miss type of player. Else he would have gone #1 overall.

meh. i've never heard the nash comparision, as nash can shoot and rubio couldn't hit the side of earth. but i've heard a lotta pistol pete comparisons. im starting to think that rubio's flair and pretty style of play have more to do with the conversation than his actual production on the court.
