    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

I'm really hoping that we take Beal at #2.

His combo of shooting/athleticism/rebounding is too good to pass up IMO, even with Hendo on the roster. I think he's going to be a star in the league. Plus it will give us another scoring option and ease some pressure on Kemba in his development.

Either Beal or MKG is the best case scenario IMO. I'm actually starting to favor Beal over MKG just because of how much better a shooter he is, but either way I'm happy with one of those two.

The Cavs will take whomever Washington and Char doesn't take between Beal, MKG, and Barnes, IMO.

Seems to me that this trade makes things much more complicated on who will be there.

Don't know what I was thinking.

Yep, this almost certainly screams that it will be MKG at 4. Charlotte apparently loves T-Rob or Barnes, Washington is obviously going to draft Beal, meaning MKG and Kyrie are going to reunite.

Turns out, being knocked out of the top 4 will only cost us how much money we will pay MKG. Which is all kinds of awesome.

MKG would be a great pick for us at 4, but I wouldnt put it past Grant to draft Barnes over MKG. Drummond potential would be hard to pass up, if he somehow fell to 12-14, Id have no problem trading the 24th and a 2nd to move to get Drummond or Ross. If we don't trade, we need to hit on that 24th pick.

Do you really think that the 24th pick and a 2 round pick can get you to 12-14? And do you really think Drummond is falling that far?

No way to either of those.

You never know where players can fall, like I said if he somehow fell that low Id try and pull the trade. 24th and a 2nd might not be enough, but it depends on the deal. If the team with the pick wants to clear salary, Id take on salary to get that pick.

Definitely. MKG and Kyrie could be fun to watch for the next 10 years. (Not as a Pistons fan though )

                      Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

Honestly I've jumped around on guys a lot in the past couple of months for the Cavs. I started out with Barnes. Then went to Beal. Then I went to MKG. Now I'm on to Drummond. I know he isn't "offensively skilled" but I think that has to do with how he was used at UConn. He really wasn't used much in the offense at all. I went through a lot of stats last night to show some of the guys on the cavs.com forum who were knocking him and saying they'd rather take Moultrie at 4 than Drummond.

Total Shots for Last Season and Average per game:
                      Drummond: 292, 8.6
                      Beal: 393, 10.6
                      Banres: 521, 13.7
                      Rivers: 402, 11.8
                      Jones III: 364, 11
                      Jeremy Lamb: 454, 13.4
                      Shabazz Napier: 350, 10.3
                      Moultrie: 328, 10.9
Leonard: 291, 9.1 (Also note the poorer FG%)

I'd go as far to say too that 2.5 of those 8.6 shots per game came off of offensive rebounds too. The guy didn't get the ball in the post at all. And you can't tell me a guy with his athletic ability and size can't just turn and sit on a guy in the post. Lamb and Napier were jacking up shots as soon as they got past half court.

I think he has more value than Beal, Barnes, or MKG because of what he can bring with a pick and roll game with Kyrie. Plus this draft is loaded with wing players late. And it's still rumored we're going to be moving back up to the lottery with those later picks we have. I could sleep easy if we got Drummond and a guy like Austin Rivers or Terrance Ross back in the lottery or even PJ3.

Did anyone else see about Golden State possibly offering up their 7th pick for our 24th and Anderson Verejao and possibly a second round pick? If that happens I think you have to take Drummond at 4 and then take Dion Waiters at 7?

Thoughts on me going all in on Drummond at this point? Drunk or smart? You decide!

Take it from someone who watched UConn all year. Drummond is LOST in the post. He thinks too much has literally NO go to move or even half decent move. If you want to spend the 4th pick on such a huge project be my guest. Now if you're talking say maybe picks 9+ no problem, but Drummond going top 5 is beyond reaching when dude hardly ever boxes out, has the most mechanical moves in the post (hell I think Kendrick Perkins might be better in the post) and has an inconsistent motor.

Yup, I watched all of his games as well and he wasn't featured on offense for a very good reason - because he was awful and completely lost. I've said the last few months that he'll be a pick-n-roll/alley-oop/putback guy and that's it. DeAndre Jordan, Tyson Chandler, etc. Him with Kyrie might be something though.

Of course it depends on who's there at 7 but I don't know. I guess I'm just too attached to Andy.
