    2012 NBA Draft Discussion

I know I know it's early, but being a Hornets fan this is what i'm looking forward to the most this season.

College Basketball is now starting to really get into full swing and this seems to be a pretty strong class.

At this point, I can't even really look forward to this as a Bucks fan. We either blow the pick or if they actually pan out, we'll probably lose them to free agency.

Cup is half full here, eh?

I'm hoping at the end of the season, we are a top 10 team.

My dream for Lamb is quickly fading, but Beal would be an awesome consolation prize.

If the Suns miss the playoffs, and even if they make it, this draft is of utmost importance.

Everyone talks about EVERYONE in the draft, and everyone has "upside" or whatever, but the Suns better "hit" (again? Morris looks good right now). Hit big. That's all I'm saying.

If they hit on a lotto pick and we can get a star out of it, that's all the more important in trying to recruit people to come play in Phoenix, considering all the money we'll have to throw at people.

The more I watch College Basketball the more sure I am Anthony Davis is the #1 draft pick, Andre Drummond has potential but Davis is a much better defender and still has the same potential imo

            #1 Anthony Davis
            #2 Harrison Barnes
            #3 Andre Drummond
            #4 Michael Kidd Gilchrist
            #5 Jeremy Lamb

I think thosed guys are the top 5 with Perry Jones,Jared Sullinger,Brad Beal and Thomas Robinson next or either could be in the #4 or #5 spot. One through three is locked up i think

I don't think MKG should be drafted that high. And I think Drummond goes back to UConn next year.

I love Lamb's game. Safest pick IMO.

I don't see any potential superstars in this draft. BUT I do see a lot of solid players who might be borderline all-stars. Nothing ultimately special in this draft BUT a lot of guys who can fill roles and be productive.

It's hard to evaluate talent. There haven't been a lot if surefire superstars for the most part since maybe Dwight Howard (if you told me in 2008 Derrick Riser would be MVP in 3 seasons I'd point you in the direction of some great ocean front property in Alaska).

I think Davis could be a superstar, potentially Drummond and Barnes and Lamb (that length). Hard work beats natural talent if natural talent doesn't work hard.

Funny, when Derrick got drafted I predicted that he would be in the conversation as the 'best PG in the league' in 3 years. People thought I was reaching with that prediction because people was so enamored with Chris Paul, Steve Nash and Deron Williams. Which was fine because they're the cream of the crop of PG's. BUT I felt there was room for one more and Derrick was going to join the crowd in a short time. I didn't think he would be the MVP about this time BUT I was pretty close.

I don't think anybody called him as an MVP in three years but there was a lot of people that said he would be a star in the league and that he would be one of if not the best PG in the league.

Durant and Oden was both guys labeled as can't miss stars. Unfortunately Oden hasn't been healthy but Durant has lived up to the billing.

I'm a Carolina fan, and in my opinion Barnes is most definitely not a franchise player and should not taken in the top five or maybe even the top ten.

He can be a solid NBA player, but as you point out, his first step and his handles are too pedestrian for him to be an elite NBA wing.

Might be a stretch but here in Lexington quite a few scouts have been just as impressed with MKG as they are with AD.Ive seen people have him as high as #3 and as low as #9.

As far as Drummond im just goin off what alot of different sites have said.Havent seen his game much this year but he seems to have a pretty decent game.

Almost every Mock draft and site has him at #2 or #3 and the lowest ive seen him projected was #6.He's a little inconsistent at times but when he's on, he's no doubt a top 5 prospect.

As far as there not bein a clear cut star in the draft id say you cant miss with Anthony Davis.I'm probably a bit biased bein that im a Kentucky fan but the kid is long, super athletic and has a great shooting stroke for a big.He can pick and pop and anyone thats watch UK you know what he can do when he rolls. He also rebounds very well and has really active hands around the basket for rebounds and tip ins.Plus his defensive ability is probably his best set of attributes. He's quick enough to switch the pick and roll and not get exposed and is a great help side defender. And the block shots speak for themselves. You know he's blocked more shots then Duke,Ohio State and Indiana have as a team all season.Right now he ranks 40 in TEAM blocked shots by himself. The kid is a beast and id say whoever gets the top pick is gettin either a future All defensive team,All NBA or All Star out of this kid.
