    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Discussion

Yeah Monty said he's basically as of right now a guard and that he could one day seeing Rivers playing PG. Which I agree with cause he has the raw physical tools to, but for now playing a combo guard role off the bench as he adjusts to the NBA and learns from a guy like Jarrett Jack/Eric Gordon. Which is exactly what NO needs for now as for too long they had no explosiveness off the bench

Rivers and raw physical tools don't really go together for a guard his size he has decent speed nothing extraordinary, If Rivers can ever develop a mid-range jumper, and the ability to catch and shoot he could be a nice player. But not a point guard he's a 2 not a 1 and trying to force him to be one is going to be bad for that team.

I didn't really mean athleticism(his speed is decent and a good vert) his ball handling is superb and is a good shooter just a streaky one. He needs to add more mid range as said, but the only knock is lacking the experience and mental aspects.

Is he a more natural at the 2? Certainly, but there's nothing that tells me he couldn't play a role at PG down the road as he adjusts to the NBA

PG's is one of those positions in sports you would use the cliche about them being born not made. Sure guys like Wall, Holiday, Rose, Westbrook, Harris, etc has kind of redefined the position with there size and athleticism. Even though Rivers has that elite size he doesn't have their elite athleticism to over come not having true point guard instincts.

Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.

Was wondering how u all would rank the top 5 or 10 rookies from 2012 draft in like 2 or 3 yrs... who will have the best careers, be all stars, etc ?

                    I'm thinking Monta Ellis 2.0

I feel pretty confident that Davis, Beal, MKG, and Lilliard will be solid player/All-Star types. After that, it's anyone's guess.

Rivers is no where near explosive as Monta Ellis, imo.

MKG has the best motor ive ever seen, not Tyler Hansbrough, im not that good, try hard motor. But a ”im a relentless dog, wont stop motor”.

Beal doesnt shot it well enough for my liking but hes still very young. I think Davis will be between Camby & Duncan when its all done, a real nice player but he will need an outstanding supporting cast. I think so much of Waiters potential is tied to Irving who seems to be pretty snake bit when it comes to injuries, so we will see there.

I think MKG will be the best of the lot.

Need a outstanding supporting cast for what exactly? Winning? I'm not sure which player outside of LeBron that has won a lot minus an outstanding supporting cast.

He cant be supported by average players is what I mean, I dont think he can transcend such a handicap. I dont think he can pull guys up to his level, in other words, I dont see him being the ”man”, but I could be wrong.

In terms of wins or production was my point. I just thought your comment wasn't specific. Every player needs a good supporting cast to win. Not all players need the supporting cast to put up numbers.

I'm not disagreeing with you by the way. I've taken a lot of criticism being anti-Davis in terms of him ever being transcend or a superstar. Personally I don't see a once in a generation player either.
