    The "Next Jordan"

This Concept has been around ever since Jordan Retired but I haven't really been hearing much of it lately. Have any college players been given that label or has the Media finally decided to give up?

People don't realize it, but "Air Scal" was the real reason the Celtics won the championship

I suppose it just got stale.

People are constantly claiming that a player can never reach Jordan's level, or a team can never reach the '96 Bulls in dominance, and this might be true. I just can't help but think these people don't enjoy the game very much. Doesn't it take away motivation just to try, since you're never going to be the best? Why try to win 72 games, since the '96 Bulls will still be better than you? The way Jordan is spoken of, it seems like his career would be the death of professional basketball.

I'd rather not see the next Jordan, I'd rather see players who are trying to be better than Jordan really.

The NBA hype machine likes to use the phrase on most talented scorers who can run fast, jump high, and dunk hard. Of course, the media pays no attention to Jordan's mastery of the game without the ball. Indeed, the young modern hoopers concentrate on the flashier aspects of the game because its what they see on the evening highlights. With the game getting dumber by the year, its doubtful anyone will approach Jordan's brilliance.

Allow me to replace that for you with the unofficial soft drink of LeBron James:

There's no "Next Jordan". Ever. Maybe the closest thing we've ever been to that is Kobe, but he's not even too close to MJ's level.

The only way there can be a next MJ or a season better than the '96 Bulls is in my NBA 2K12 My Player.
