If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

Why not just call them Charlotte? Don't even give them a name, just call them Charlotte.#RespectTheCultureComment

Also, the SEVENTY SIXERS (4th of July in 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia), Mavericks = reference to the "wild wild west", A clipper is a navy ship that was a reference to San Diego, a Piston is a component in reciprocating engines (Detroit auto industry reference) and a Knickerbocker is an old time term from Manhattan's aristocracy that literally referred to someone as a "New Yorker" just like "Yankee" is more commonly used today.
I remember Baltimore's first Arena team went nameless bc they couldn't keep the Colts after they snuck off to Indy. Nobody cares about lower level arena teams (nobody did then either) but it was funny watching the local sports news and seeing "Baltimore ??? undefeated".Comment

I still think "Wizards" is worse...I just envision a bunch of acne-riddled geeks in pointy hats with moons and stars on it. I know it's not politically correct, but the Bullets is so much a better name...Comment

Re: How bad do Charlotte fans hate the name Bobcats?
Outside of the history of the franchise actually being good, I had no problem with the name change. It was just the choice of the name that was horrible. Seemed like they wanted to go as far as possible away from "Bullets" which brings more attention to the assumption that the team's name came from the association to crime in the area. They just screwed up the entire process. I'm glad they brought the colors back.
BTW, on topic, everything about the Charlotte Hornets was right. The name had an NBA feel but also an appeal to the heavy college bball contingency down there. Same with the color scheme, and it was definitely hot nationally. The personalities and types of players they had through the years seemed to help too. There was just a weird connection with everything.Comment
