what kind of deal was that.
    Regarding the name:

    Chris Daniels ‏@ChrisDaniels5
Buried on page 19 in the #SeattleArena MOU: Hansen and City will work to acquire #Supersonics name for NBA franchise.

    Tim Booth ‏@ByTimBooth
#SeattleArena nugget: "any NBA Team domiciled in Seattle operated by ArenaCo or affiliate that owns NBA team will use the name Supersonics.”

My understanding was that the Thunder would keep the Sonic's history and records as their own until Seattle got another team. I could be completely wrong about that though, that was how it was explained to me by a friend a couple years ago. I'm not sure how that would work if a team like the Kings would move to Seattle though, wich team's records would be used, as opposed to an expansion team with no history and records.
      NBA: Thunder
      NFL: Chiefs
      NCAA: Boomer Sooner!!!
      MLB: Just love the game!!!

        How I would do it:

-Sacramento keeps all of the Kings history
        -Seattle regains their history pre-2008
-OKC has their stuff from 2008 onwards

That's how we have it with the Stars/North Stars in Dallas, I'm not sure if the Wild have the old North Stars history since its a new name and what not but we don't have any of the North Stars history in Dallas.

Yep, and with the Coyotes being sold locally, it's going to take even longer for an NHL team to come here if at all. So, I'm glad it can just move forward with a basketball team.

Yup, that's exactly how it should be. Now whether it will actually happen is another story. I don't remember how the history part was laid out when the Sonics left.

The Port of Seattle is trying to strong-arm the city and are claiming the new arena would cost them 100,000 new jobs. This isn't a done deal by any means.

Last night's Lakers/Thunder game 3 painfully reminded me of the Sonics/Suns game 7 in the '93 West Finals. The Suns had 21 more FT's made than Seattle even had FT's attempted. The Suns only made 30 buckets and still scored 123 pts.

What is the argument that the Port of Seattle is trying to make? How will it cost them 100k jobs? Will a new arena not create jobs? Doesn't make much sense.

Increased traffic because they'd be putting the arena right in the middle of their only route to I-5. They're claiming the arena would increase the value of the Sodo area and increase growth. They're claiming they'll increase by 100,000 jobs within the next 20ish years w/o the arena.

In game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals the Mavs shot and made the same number of free throws as Dwyane Wade. As a team the Heat shot FOURTY NINE free throws. I feel your pain.

Either way someone must find a way to bring back the Seattle Supersonics in green and yellow.

Yep... I was under the impression that when they moved to OKC all of the colors/logos/name stayed in Seattle.

There really isn't a point bringing an NBA team back to Seattle if they aren't green & yellow and call the SuperSonics.

I wish the if the Kings went to Seattle and were renamed the Sonics, OKC would bring back the Royals name. Pipedream I know, but the area has a strong history with KC and Cinci also being the Royals.

Traffic Study says no harm would be done with new arena.

I truly miss the Super Sonics. I'm a Suns fan but always loved Kemp and Payton growing up. It's a shame that their jerseys will probably never be retired and hung up in the rafters.

KJ, Thunder Dan, Barkley...that team gave us fits in the 90's LOL. Had some great rivalries with the Suns, Lakers, Blazers and Rockets (Hakeem was a handful too, always seemed to have our number).
