Yup, started seeing that. Like I said, was hoping that this guy was just trying to paint his opinion as the entire council's. Seems to be backfiring.

Holy crap. The City Council is asking for more from Chris Hansen. Just...wow. The County Council is expected to vote in approval today, but now the City Council is doing their best to **** up the best offer that we'll probably ever see.

Man it was a blast watching the Sonics and Suns go at it in 93 on NBATV this weekend... I miss that brand of ball but the team so much

We definitely need the Sonics back in the NBA

I actually take it as good news. Their demands were pretty non-specific. It's definitely a political play trying to put their name on it. They would get destroyed by the anti-arena & Port people if they rubber stamped it.

I believe Hansen is negotiating with them in town this week, so I think it was expected.

Concerned about the City Council. We'll see what happens. Hopefully Chris Hansen continues to be as patient as he has shown so far.

I think enough of Chris's intelligence to think he knows he'll have to play some political poker with the city council.

I like to think that the county vote will put a little lean on the city, but the city seems to want to massage the agreement more. Jeez, it's exactly like trying to get a bill passed on the Hill in Washington; say 'no' until you're able to pack it with pork from your constituency.

City Council set to vote on Aug 13.

Edit: The word is negotiations between Hansen and the Council went extremely well and the vote will pass in 10 days. Great news!!!

They'll never get a better deal than this, and hopefully they're not stupid and will realize that.

That's obvious to the rest of us, but the council are politicians.

'Common sense' and 'politics' never collide in the same sentence. You can bet that the 'negotiations' are the council porking up the proposal to make themselves look good to their constituents, which technically in politics is part of their job.

Still, some good may yield from the pork, like some more road improvements in SODO, which is never a bad thing.
