Re: Duncan or KG?
I'm gonna preface this by saying Garnett has been my favorite player ever since he entered the league... I choose him for a lot of reasons: he's always been a better defender, passer, and ft shooter (td has gotten worse as he has gotten older which makes no sense to me)... But the overriding factor for me is that the ONE AND ONLY YEAR that he had real help in minny (cassell an sprewell) he won MVP destroyed Duncan head to head the way Olajuwon destroyed Robinson and went to the conference finals
At the end of the day, Duncan is the greatest PF to play the game. I think Garnett was always destined to be more of a #2 guy on a championship game.
It's pretty awesome to see them both playing as well as they have been lately though. Didn't see that coming.NFL: Bills

I disagree with almost all of this, not gonna lie.

Re: Duncan or KG?
I think it was very close, but you're a Celtics fan, so you'd probably know more than I. But that Big 3 was built so perfectly together. Each of them had a large role that they brought to the team, and they all played their roles extremely well.NFL: Bills

So a couple of KGs former teammates questioned his clutch gene on twitter last night....is this valid?
I remember him with big baskets throughout his career...Comment

Just another choke in a career full of them.Last edited by AlexBrady; 05-31-2012, 11:52 AM.Comment

Re: Duncan or KG?
Its absolutely valid. He missed a fadeaway jumper near the end of regulation. Fumbled the rebound in the last seconds and allowed LeBron to snatch it. Bricked a short range jumper in overtime. Tried to block Udonis Haslem's shot instead of getting into rebound position and LeBron got the putback. Finally, he tried to force a foolish pass into traffic, when the ball should have been passed to Mikael Pietrus in the corner.
Just another choke in a career full of them.Comment

Re: Duncan or KG?
Anyway, KG was a HUGE part to that championship, but even as a Celtics fan I'm surprised you'd say that considering Pierce was the heart and soul of their offense. So much so that I believe after a loss in the finals or conf finals, KG and Allen told us they had to tell Pierce to be "the man" bc it seemed like he was being a bit more passive to let everyone do their thing.
I'd even say Allen's role was as important as both Pierce and KG also, but either way, no way I'd say KG was the most important piece "and it wasn't even close". Even if your point is about his role on the defensive end... to which I'd say isn't necessarily the role of a #1 guy, even though it's just as important if not more in some cases (again, no need to get hung up on the title).Comment

At this point, I'd definitely take Timmy.Comment

wwharton, I feel you, but KG had a unique ability to lift the intensity of everyone else's defense on the team. He was literally always talking and making sure guys were in the right spots, forcing turnovers and leading to transition buckets where he would sprint down the floor for a jam at the other end.
Pierce was the most important piece in the halfcourt offense, but Pierce and Ray have said KG is without question the most important piece to that team; he is the ultimate teammate. I'll try to find the interview. Doc and Rondo have preached the same sentiments.
Regardless, I think TD is the best PF ever by a wide margin.Comment

I'd take Timmy, he's never been the flash KG was in his youth but he's so sound, he doesn't have a flaw, FT shooting maybe lol.. As for the Garnett never had a team concept, great players make their team better, they carry them, LeBron in Cleveland had the worst supplanting cast I've ever saw in the finals, and he carried them there and to the best record in the league consecutive seasons, although Duncan has always had a pretty good supporting cast I could see him completely carrying a lesser team, especially one like KG had with Cassell, Sprewell and companyComment
