Keeping Perkins isn't worth losing one of the best young swingmen in the NBA, who also happens to be your only offensive player off the bench. Like the poster above me mentioned, the Thunder are already loading up on centers (Thabeet, Aldrich & Orton), so they already see the big picture. I see Cole Aldrich finally getting a chance and playing solidly for Scott Brooks which will make Perkins expendable.

Agreed and if they need Perkins just to be a Dwight "stopper", they'll just go out and find some Jason Collins type for cheaper. Their best lineup in the Finals didn't involve Perkins and people seem to forget that Boston didn't finish out games with Perkins all the time.

I think they will be able to trade Perkins because he will only have 2 years left on his deal after this season.

Remember when this was being discussed as a potential trade for the Magic? That one really sucked.

Do you think Ibaka could play center?

            Westbrook
            Harden
            Durant
            PJIII
            Iblocka

That's pretty freaking amazing. Especially if PJIII plays like he has the ability to.

Alright well Perkins trade/amnesty is the way to go, I hope the Hawks consider him. I would prefer to get him from amnesty but I bet the Hawks could get him for Petro and Zaza (both on expiring contracts)

I doubt that Perkins would be traded before next off-season.

I'm pretty sure if the Bulls move deng at the trade deadline for an expiring (Kevin Martin maybe?), and then amnesty Boozer they could offer Harden a max contract.

That may also let them avoid the luxury tax.

I don't think we know everything though, I doubt Presti just chooses Ibaka and lets harden walk...he's too smart for that.

And yet it's still better than what they got. Why are we even still talking about this?

They just overpaid for Asik AND Jeremy Lin in the same offseason and were willing to take Dwight without an extension. Nobody is in position to say what Houston would or wouldn't do cause those poor bastards don't even know at this point.

As a big OKC fan, I doubt we will be able to keep Harden.

While it sucks, I understand why OKC made this move. Ibaka is only 22 and led the NBA in blocks. He will get bigger and better. Also, I think the Thunder got a good deal by signing him early instead of waiting until he became a unrestricted free agent.

As for Harden, he is a two guard. There are a lot of these guys in the league. While I don't won't to lose him, the move to sign Ibaka makes sense seeing as how it is difficult to find solid big men.

OKC has the offense with Westbrook and KD locked up long term. Now they locked up some defense.

Don't think the Ibaka deal means Harden is out. Think OKC got a chance to lock up Ibaka and took the first crack at it before there were any changed minds. They've gotten Westbrook, Durant, and now Ibaka to all take extensions now over the last few years, at a time it financially makes the most sense for players to go to free agency so they can make more with bird rights.

If anything, this puts pressure on. Hardens camp to not be the "bad" guys. And I think he likes being there. Imagine OKC will keep them together

                              Hell no it's not.

Who's the biggest competition for the Thunder in the West? The Lakers. Who did the Lakers just get? Dwight Howard. Who is one of the few players that plays Dwight well? Kendrick Perkins.

Getting rid of Perkins now would be an incredibly stupid decision.

OK, I'll spell it out for you.

Is it harder to find a quality big man which was the leagues leading shot blocker or is it easier to find a guard?

If OKC can't sign Harden, the player they bring in probably won't be as talented but I feel like that guy can still compliment the team.

It's harder to find guys like Ibaka that can't block shots and hit 20 foot jumpers.
