Of the 7 players we have on contract, 4 of them are over 30, 1 of them is Roddy, who the Mavs continue trying to hammer into a point guard unsuccessfully, 1 of them is Dominique Jones, who has shown absolutely nothing in his first two years and the only potentially bright spot for the future is Brandan Wright. The BOBCATS have a potentially brighter future right now.
I think you're panicking a bit. We don't know how the rest of free agency is going to play out. We don't know how good our draft picks are yet. But above all I have faith in Cuban and company to field a competitive team. It does suck that we were set back a little as our gamble didn't pay off, but it's not the end of the world. Like I said, not getting Deron this year could mean getting Dwight next year. It's a long shot, and honestly at this point I don't see it happening, but you never know. In any event I still expect Dallas to be competitive. They won a title with Jason Terry as their 2nd guy. They have some decent pieces under contract right now. They could use the rest of this free agency period to retool a bit and be right back in the mix of things.

If I were the Bulls, I'd pick up the phone and give Cuban a call. If they're now stuck going into rebuilding mode because of the way this offseason has turned out, then it really couldn't hurt to at least see if you can get Dirk out of them for something.
That would be fun to see. I would only trade Boozer and a pick for that though. And have Dallas amnesty Boozer if they haven't used it already.
The Buzz is Back in the Queen City. Cho........I have no idea what you are going to do in this draft man.

I can tell you right now, this one isn't a 'you never know' type of situation. The Mavs are NOT getting Dwight Howard. Dwight Howard one way or another is gonna be a Laker or a Net.

You can't amnesty a player you trade for. The amnesty can only be used on players that were on your roster prior to last season.

What makes you think Dirk would even want to come to Chicago? This season is a lost cause and despite my belief Rose will come back better then ever, the bottom line is he's still a question mark.

I don't want to sound like a downer but that's just the realism of the situation that the Bulls are in. D. Rose isn't coming back in spring and leading this team to glory. Dirk would be committing to a situation that isn't much better.

Not saying Rose is coming back in the spring. This team's future is a lot brighter than what Dallas' looks like though two years from now. Believe me, I know what's up with this season, I've been beating that drum for a while now. I was just saying it wouldn't hurt to pick up the phone and see if you could swing something.

Yes, he's exactly what we need right now. A combo guard that can play point when Rose is out, the SG when he is back. As well as being able to score a create his own shot.

If Chicago isn't in the rumors to acquire him, I'll be very pissed. This is exactly the player they need, and they said they will not be making decisions based off of financial reasons.

The Clippers could have had Nick Young for 6-7 mill but gave Crawford 25

I think they pursued it as a trading chip but if they didn't amnesty Brand, I don't think they could have signed Nick Young. So they would have to re-sign Lou Williams and they probably weren't comfortable doing that long term. I think the logic is that ideally both are a 6th man but Lou already established an identity as someone who finishes game. Now its easier to leave Holiday and Turner on the floor because there aren't established roles. I think they may pursue Hinrich now.

I really believe they wanted to keep Brand but the money was too much and then nobody wanted to trade for the contract. I heard before that Brand was willing to use his ETO ( early termination option) if they could come to an agreement on a 2 or 3 year deal.

He is taking Lou Williams time. Jodie Meeks is an unrestricted free agent, they didn't give him a qualifying offer. They may re-sign him to be a shooter off the bench.

Supposedly a lot of teams are interested in him. He will be a good fit no matter where he goes, he is a solid shot blocker and a great locker room presence.
