Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
The Dwight messages were DM's I believe he was talking to an Amway employee and the guy posted them on twitter publicly..
Dwight has been relatively quiet in the media all of this time but I dont have any doubts the Magic are also throwing some mud to the media too.. they definitely aren't exempt from doing thatdeath to mollyComment

Mark Cuban has flipped that horrid of an offseason at first to a decent one. Signing Darren Collison, Chris Kaman, Elton Brand, and now OJ Mayo in the last five days.. No bad at all! I can now say I'm looking forward to the season now.Comment

The poison pill contracts are really dumb, I don't understand giving the team signing a player such a big advantage, you would think you would reward the team that actually drafted the player (or that acquired them in the Knicks case with Lin) with a chance to keep their talent rather than having their cap obliterated for a year while team X can spread the cap hit over Y amount of years.
Second, it does help teams be able to sign early bird free agents. If it was under the former structure the Bulls or Knicks would be SOL. Without getting horribly detailed, the Arenas Provision contracts allow for teams to re-sign EBFAs without impacting their cap. The obvious bad part is the third year jump, but the general thought was that they'd be worth that amount or something close. Also it makes it harder for another team because the former team has a first year hit of ~5 while the signing team must average out the salary, therefore creating a larger cap hit.Support Local Sports

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
Costing close to 40 mil in year 3 when you factor in luxury tax may not be a poison pill by definition but for lack of a better term I would say it applies here.
Yeah the 5 mil hit the first couple years is great but when that contract turns into the disgusting beast it is in year 3 it just sucks, while a higher more consistent contract may seem like a disadvantage to you for the signing team I would take an 8-8-8 over a 5-5-15 any day, year 3 eats up star money for a non star player.
I know how EBFA works but it still hits you extremely hard with the luxury tax when you're paying Lin 40 mil in season 3 while the Rockets get to structure it significantly better, why should they be given that advantage where is the logic in allowing them the opportunity to leverage a team into not keeping a player with his Bird Rights due to saddling the team with a massive luxury tax payment.
The fact Lin will bring in a ton of money is irrelevant I'm just talking overall.
Bird Rights are great I just think if you give an offer sheet of 5-5-15 or anything for that matter you should have to pay it not be able to adjust it to a more friendly breakdown while their current team gets an albatross in year 3.
Just woke up so I apologize if this is a bit long winded.Favorite Teams:

I stills don't think those Dwight texts are real.
And if they are..well then he's a certified idiot with a child's mentality.
What are the Magic trying to do for money...re-sign him?
Why would they make up rumors for a year now saying he wants to play for BKN? What benefit is that to them?
Doesn't add up Dwight.

Part of the reason why he doesn't have more suitors. And just another reason why Morey is a flat out idiot for wanting to trade for him without wanting an extension only being able to get maybe 5 months out of him.

If that Dwight thing is legit, wow. Not surprising, but I wish I knew more about the injury and procedure he's dealing with. Haven't heard or read much about the window he's looking at

Thats the downside of letting someone else negotiate a contract for your players tho. They could easily have structured a more palatable deal if they struck first with an offer (as they did with Novak)Ericmaynor3.com

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)
There was no indication that Lin wasn't going to test the market and he had every right to seeing the kind of season he just came off of. I think it would be bad business for his agents to agree to a deal without any other offers out there.Comment

So there's a petition by Knicks fans to management to keep Jeremy Lin around.
