And, and that's a huge AND... they'll have another center that was top 5 in draft.

Yeah I'm really hoping we won't sign him. I'd like to keep Harris, and I don't know too much about Hamilton. But he's a big body that can come off the bench so he'll contribute some I'm sure.

Mayo is the first somewhat legit shooting guard that Dallas has had since Stackhouse

now all the Mavs need to do is sign Delonte West wit the 2.5 exception and they will be set

Jamison at the minimum is a steal. Will be a solid scoring presence off the bench. Great pick up

They hadn't played with players the caliber of each other before they teamed up. And they didn't have to suck in the mean time.

Is that an excuse for Darko? If any excuse can be made it is he was drafted by a Larry Brown team. Either way Darko is what he is. A top 5 pick that should have bottom 5.

He was supposed to BE a player on that level. And he was drafted to the best situation of all of them. Larry Brown didn't do him any favors but that's not a good excuse. Is this where this "players need to team up" trend is going? If you don't get to team up with stars you can't be called a bust anymore either?

D.Wade would be lucky to tie Darko's shoe laces.

Who said this though? I don't think there's a basketball fan alive that will tell you that Darko isn't a bust, lol

What we've seen many times though, is mediocre to poor players flourish in a low pressure situation surrounded by talent. I'm not even saying Darko would breakthrough given the situation, but I think that's what Ships was going for.

The part in bold is so true, we've seen guys labeled a bust do really well in a non pressure situation surrounded by great talent. Then fans of said bust's original team start clamoring "where was this crap before!?".
