If I'm on of the best players in the NBA and literally every teams wants me, why can't I think about the climate I'd like to live in for the next 6 or so years?

I live in Ohio. You want to pay me to live in Miami? Pfft, gone.

Climate should be the LAST thing you're thinking about if you are a FA, especially considering you're playing in PERFECT conditions ALL the time.

Plus, it's not like you can't buy or rent an offseason home in those warm weather places either.

        1) I'm not saying it should be #1

        2) Do we not consider environment when we move for jobs? But since they make millions, they don't need to consider it?

Who said that? I just said it should be the last thing they need to be considering and going on past history, that seems to be the case.

But if you have an offer from all 30 teams and they're offering you the same amount, you're really going to eliminate 24-25 of them because they don't have warm weather for 2-3 months DURING your season? Think about how much little sense that makes for a second.

it makes a lot of sense. They play these games for like what 2 hours, probably at the arena for 5-6 hours? then after that they have to go home? I would def take climate and those things into account. Not to mention i dont think Florida has a state income tax

LeBron chose Miami because he got to play with another top 5 player and an all star PF who were also his friends. End of story.

Weather, Pat Riley, and no income tax were also minor factors.

If the weather is that important or such a big deal to you, then that says more about you in that you'd rather go to Orlando than Chicago because your car gets too cold sitting outside while you're at the Arena for 2-3 months out the year.

                  Yeah, pretty much.

Seriously though it's a completely different thing talking about regular folks with regular jobs and people who get to do most things they have to do for free or at a discounted rate anyway.

Besides that, since you have to travel in the **** weather for road games in those very cities during the course of the year anyway, exactly what's the point?

Nevermind the fact that I don't think a SINGLE player in the NBA has to park outside the arena in the first place and I'm sure the majority of their cars have remote start anyway, but that's just me and my logic I guess.

2-3 months? its a lot longer than that... Could be 8 months if you make the playoffs. I'm including preseason in that as well. Weather isn't the most important thing but it's definitely an attributing factor

I can kind of understand guys from places like Cali or Texas or somewhere being all sensitive about cold weather but people that are from friggin cold weather cities bitching about the cold? GTFOH. If you're from New York or Chicago or Ohio and you're making your decision about a team over the weather...c'mon now.

I'm talking about real cold(30s and below)which depending on where you're at goes from December-February, not no 40s-50s.

Weather should not be a major or even significant factor. I'll give you Nightlife but the weather? If it's going to be THAT much of an issue, then yeah that says alot about you if you can't deal with a little cold for a few months.

Thank goodness NFL Players don't have this mentality. "Oh no, I can't go to Washington or Chicago or Philly because it gets too cold later in the year".

I wish it's come out that the no headband rule is what stopped CHI from signing James...that'd just be amazing

Me personally, I was born in California as a baby. Stayed there 4 years. Then, I was moved to Louisiana...which is even worse IMO. As a result I can't stand cold weather. Can't stand it. Would never go anywhere where I have to put up with the cold for any length of time.

I'd actually wager its a bigger deal for NFL players than anyone since they have to play in it...I've heard a lot of guys express their preference...I know Chris Harris actually wanted to leave here and go BACK to the cold in Chi lol

Agreed on NBA players though, wouldn't think weather plays a major factor in their decision...unless its a family thing...
