Gotta be honest, don't really see the benefit in this trade for Houston. Harden isn't really a franchise player, and Lamb at least has the potential to be a good starter some day. Martin isn't much worse than Harden, plus they gave up draft picks? OKC raped them IMO.

either way i think he is gone after this year if he doesnt accept a deal by the deadline.

The only thing is, are they really that high on Lamb? Because with that logic they could have just kept Harden and then let him go after the season.

I do think Martin can be legit with OKC but it's obviously still a question mark compared to what Harden brought to their dynamic. They are tinkering with a team that looked damn impressive on their way to the finals.

That caught me off guard as well. So much for the beard in OKC, just like that... Traded.

Last May, Grantland's Jordan Conn wrote a terrific Harden profile that included the following revelation: Before the 2009 draft, Harden (considered to be a top-five pick) e-mailed Presti pushing for Oklahoma City to select him third overall. See, Harden disliked being "The Man" at Arizona State. He hated the pressure of delivering game after game after game. He didn't need 20 shots a game. He'd rather become the third-best player on a great team than the best player on a forgettable one. If anything, playing with Durant and Westbrook was perfect for him. James Harden wanted to make sure Sam Presti knew that. So he e-mailed him to make sure.
                Welcome to Houston, franchise player!

I know Harden's not a franchise player though...Rockets do have a lot of young players...I just hope the team has a direction now? Lately it's like the Rockets just collect players to trade them away later...

Lol. This is a bad move for Rockets IMO. Time will tell, OKC once again strikes back. Their management never seizes to amaze me. Jeremy Lamb is gonna learn a loooooot from KD.
Hope is lost. Faith is broken. A fire will rise.

OKC likes youth, they probably thought they couldn't get a good enough replacement for Harden next summer so they take in Lamb and the picks and will just keep doing what their good at, turning picks into good players.

I think I'm more just questioning OKC from the standpoint: look you have a title caliber team this season. Now that Harden is gone and Martin in, I'm not so sure they're as scary... but it'll be fun to watch.

Don't get me wrong, at least they're trying, but when you lose Lowry, Martin, Scola and Dragic and replace them with Asik, Lin and Harden... I just don't know. Either way they weren't going to win with what they had, but I'm not so sure this core is much better.. and now they're tied to them long term, depending on if Harden signs for the max.

Re: NBA Movement Central 2012 (All Transactions 1st Page)

I'm seeing so much overreaction on Twitter (unsurprisingly) with people saying the Lakers just got gifted the Western Conference title. I don't know though. OKC made a hell of a coup with what they got back.

I'm still a little in shock that they pulled the trigger this early, but I think in the end it'll have been the right move from the Thunder's side if Harden really wasn't budging from a max contract stance. They just got a lottery pick player in Jeremy Lamb who could be really nice, plus two firsts and a second. Personally I think I like it because they're not locking themselves down to 3 or 4 players. Things change incredibly quick in sports. Any one of Harden, Durant or Westbrook could suffer a severe injury or something and they'd be stuck. With this trade they can reload and even reshape their team and keep some flexibility. Plus you never know if Presti is planning on taking pieces from this trade and flipping them for something else.

All in all though, this is pretty damn unprecedented, unless I'm forgetting about a past Finals team that made such a bold, franchise-changing move the year after. Crazy.
