If this were a year or two ago and Nash was a bit younger, I'd actually think this may be a good thing for Nash. I just don't think he plays at his best when he has true big men who predominately are effective when they post up.
What I mean is, I think it's safe to say he's played at his highest level with agile bigs, roaming/rolling and shooting bigs. Guys like Tim Thomas, Amare, Gortat, Marion etc. etc. Guys who could move their feet and/or spread the floor with their ability to shoot.
At this point Pau and Howard are too slow of foot to really mesh with Nash's style. I thought differently initially coming into the season, but how it played out wasn't all that pretty to look at. Nash needs fleet of foot guys who can get in and out of the way quickly so that Nash can probe more. It more seems like Pau and Howard just get in the way and muck things up. Also Pau isn't decisive enough out of the pick and roll if he receives the ball like say, Amare was. Nash needs Pau to make a quick hitting decision because he only has a split second while the defense is off-guard before they recover. Instead Pau holds the ball and doesn't have the skill set to really make a dribble move to the basket.
It will be interesting to see Nash work with guys who will spread the floor more like Jamison and Sacre and with Artest playing at the 4 more. Artest is at least shooting a bit better.. Maybe, even with Nash's old age, we'll see a bit of vintage Nash. The one that gets to probe more and dribble in and out of the paint.
