Re: You don't see post men with an unstoppable game like this anymore!
Mostly because of the zones, in addition the lack of talented bigs.
Up until the 2000's half the NBA offenses were simple inside-out offenses. Throw it in to the big, let him eat until he forced a double team. Then once the double came just live on kickouts and ball reversals."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: You don't see post men with an unstoppable game like this anymore!
Sometimes I wonder if any of the guys in today's game could do some work on the block.
It's tough for me to say they can't because I've actually rarely saw any if them even have the opportunity.
Post play just isn't utilized the way it once was.
If you look back, guys like Ewing, Shaq, Robinson, etc were averaging as many shot attempts as guys like Kobe, Melo, Durant.. Big men just aren't used the way they once were.
Yeah everytime you watch a 90's, 00's game that's the first thing you realise. I've watched again Bulls at Jazz 1998 game 6 yesterday, they basically posted up like 80% of the possessions.Comment

Every defender's natural reaction, after an entry pass to the low post, is to turn their head to the post player making the catch. It opens up all kinds of fades, cuts and relocations, etc."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Where in that post did you see me say Bynum's post game is light years ahead of McHale. I just provided a video with Bynum's post moves, and said, "I thought Bynum had a really really good post game"... McHale's not was not in the same sentence, hell, McHale's name wasn't even mentioned so I'm confused as to whether you were trying to punk me just now haha.Comment

Re: You don't see post men with an unstoppable game like this anymore!
Tim Duncan is not a player from this generation. There are NO young big men with any sort of solid back-to-the-basket post game. Roy Hibbert is borderline terrible offensively and the rest are all face up guys or are in the league due to their defensive capabilities.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks

Unfortunately offense aren't built to dump the ball in the post anymore...I think that's more of the case than there not being any post players, though there's not as many....We (San Antonio) hardly post Duncan anymore, Pau's post game is rotting away in LA...it goes on...
and as much as Bynums an ***, his post game is on point. He has a great combination if power, size and touch, and as much as he's injured, that touch never goes away....too bad we hardly get to see it...if he could stay on the court, his post game would probably scary good by now...
Him and McHale have two different post games... but I definitely think he could be just as effective if you look beyond the names "Bynum" and "McHale"...Comment

I was one who always said healthy Bynum was on par with D12 bc of his offensive (read, post) game. Shaq had an insane post game also, but he was so powerful (and god awful from 10 feet and out), a lot of people may not realized how skilled he was around the basket.
One guy I may put on par with McHale was Hakeem. The dream shake was deadly.Comment

Re: You don't see post men with an unstoppable game like this anymore!
Pau is 32, he's not a member of the young generation either, and his abilities in the post have faded considerably.
I don't see what you're arguing, I never said there weren't any players in the league with abilities to play down on the block, I said there aren't any young guys, and there aren't.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Its unfortunate that we're probably not gonna find out if he's still got it until at least next season whether he stays in LA or not.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
