I think P2K can agree with me on this, you cant trade AI
Philly is known with AI, more so IMO than any otehr city
that would be like the Lakers trading Shaq, or the Spurs trading Tim Duncan. I just dont see it happening.
What do you think P2K?
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Not P2K, just chipping in my 2 cents.
-I don't think Georgetown fans in the DC area would mind AI in a Wizards jersey (although it'd be crazy to trade him within the division).
It's a business. Some of the greatest players ever have been traded. Patrick Ewing was traded even though he was the face of the Knicks.
I say get something for him while he's still walking and has value. At this injury rate, he won't make it 5 more seasons.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
I agree, but you want to talk about getting something, how much money do the 76ers get off of AI jerseys. When you say Philly 76ers, people automatically think of Allen iverson.
Im no profession, and I didnt stay at a Holliday Inn Express last night, but I dont think he will get traded

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
This is how my mind goes when it comes to sports:
A player's marketability and bringing in of dough only does but so much, especially in a city like Philadelphia. New York wouldn't stand for it. Yankee fans enjoyed championship after championship...yet starve for more championships. Philly sure as hell will not stand for that, let along hardly winning enough championships.
I would trade in and sacrafice the big time sales in jerseys for championships.
If trading Iverson is the first step to that, I would do it in an NY/Philly second.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
<font color="blue"> Maybe the Sixers would be worse w.o AI. I mean we beat the Spurs in San Antonio last weekend without him, but I dont see a team without AI being all that good. It's just because of how our team is built </font>
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
True but this Sixers team is not championship caliber. It's not a dangerous team. I could see if they were great defensively like the Larry Brown teams, I could see reaching the conference finals and so on. But this team is just.....blah.
There will be a Sixers after Iverson retires or is traded. Before Iverson, there was Barkley. Before Barkley, there was Doc. Before Doc, there was Billy C. Before Billy C, there was Chamberlain. What I'm saying is that there will be someone after Iverson. The Sixers will move on.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
So you are in favor of blown up the team and starting over because that will have to happen if you trade Iverson..
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Unless there is a way to get something going to where the Sixers become a championship team NOW....then yes, blow it up.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
If you blow it up you made not get back in contention for a long while!! See Wizards/Bullets, Bulls, Heat...
