yes because the national media are like leaches. they are not covering the nba, as much as they are scouring the earth for ratings. they will stoop to any level to increase those ratings. the media dont care about the lakers really, they just want those ratings.

leaches man, nothing more than leaches.

p.s. im sure somebody else will notice that i completely butchered that its hovi baby chorus.

the lakers are the only team in all of sports that is truly international. its the strongest brand in all of sports. it may not always be fair or deserved, but its true. the lakers ALWAYS matter. because they always move the needle (ratings) one way or the other.

couple lines from Hov says it best.

your team (as a brand) aint got enough stamps in their passport/to F wit the lakers/international....

you cant touch the untouchable/sink the unsinkable, reach the unreachable/its the lakers baby....

First off the Lakers are not the strongest brand in sports, they're not even in the top 10. also the year after shaq left and they missed the playoffs they were pretty irrelevant that year.

People complaining about lakers getting too much exposure are just giving the lakers even more exposure and importance.

I'am fine with that, let's keep going.

Serious question about this particular part: Who is forcing you to hear and see every thing they do?

Got a point with that. Especially when you put in perspective that nobody is giving any kind of dambs about talking about the Philadelphia 76ers the current ninth seed in the East.

It's bigger news that the Lakers are a 9th seed than the Sixers being a ninth seed.

I know guys want to dislike the coverage, but it's not like it's confusing as to why the Lakers get talked about more than the 76ers or nearly any other team in the Association.

Who said their confused by it though? I know exactly why it's bigger news doesn't mean people have to like it though. Same deal as Tebow over in football. Dude gets more coverage than any other backup in the league. He doesn't deserve it, but I get that there are a lot of Tebow fans out there that drives why it's done, doesn't mean I like that crap either.

Do you guys really expect differently with the media coverage and who they choose to push? Serious question. It's like complaining why the sky is blue. I understand your opinions and other people's frustrations but at some point there really is no point in saying it. ESPN and most other media are all bull****. They don't give equal coverage or even coverage to teams or athletes who may deserve it more. I think most of you know this already which is why I'm wondering why there's a need to complain about the media.

                    It's the media.

                    The media.

                    You're complaining about the media.

                    Lol.

That's why there's forums like this one where we can have discussions on other things and topics in the NBA outside of the Lakers or the Heat.

Now I'm not asking you guys to stop with posting your thoughts or what have you, you guys can complain or question the media til you're blue in the finger tips but I hate to break it to you, zebras don't lose their stripes.

It's Luke Walton vs Carmelo Anthony right now. Epicness incoming. It's time for Walton to make a statement against that clown.

Nobody wants to see the Lakers as they are: a poorly constructed team with a bad coach, a star player that is trying to do it all himself, another star player who doesn't seem to care, an aging but still great point guard who has a role we still aren't really sure of yet and a bunch of bench guys who are either underachieving or aren't good. They aren't going to do anything in the playoffs if they get in. I think looking at this team right now, you're DELUSIONAL if you think they could do anything but maybe steal a close one at home against the Spurs, Clippers or Thunder or even the Nuggets.

Kobe is playing absolutely out of his mind right now and the Lakers are still barely squeaking by in games. What's gonna happen when he stops shooting such a ridiculously high percentage? The Lakers needed an amazing game from Kobe just to slip past the Mavericks who just got humiliated in basically their most important game of the year against the Rockets. The Lakers don't DESERVE to be talked about any more than the Mavs, the Rockets, the Blazers or any of those other Western Conference teams fighting for a playoff spot. And I understand why they're talked about, because its the Lakers. But it would be great to hear about teams that are actually playing well such as the Pacers, Hakws, Bulls, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Jazz and Rockets, but those teams get pushed to the side far too often and its unfortunate.

I didn't mean to put any of this on Kobe, Kobe has been playing incredible ball lately, without LeBron's crazy run I'd say he'd be playing the best ball out of anyone in the league and I think you could argue that he's right there with LeBron, but the team isn't worth all the talk and attention they get. The only reason anyone says that no one cares about the Jazz or Hawks is because no one even gets a chance to care about them. The media has decided there's about 5 teams we should care about: Miami, the Lakers, the Clippers, the Thunder and the Knicks. The rest of the teams get pushed to the backburner. I understand there are reasons to talk about those five teams but I feel like teams like the Jazz and Hawks shouldn't be ignored like they are.

And bringing up local channels is irrelevant. Obviously local channels are going to talk about their team, that's a given anywhere you go. Its really just a failure of sports journalism these days IMO.
