So do you people believe in the Lakers Ref conspiracy theory?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

    Yes and no.

    Yes they are favoured...but I don't think it's a conspiracy.

It's just that referess tend to favour the bigger teams / teams expected to win.

I watch sport the world over...and the same thing happens in all leagues of all sports.

You watch Manchester United or Real Madrid play at home and they tend to get 60% of decisions go their way.

Basketball tends to really highlight the bias though, as it's such a heavily officiated sport.

Realistically, the refs could call something on most plays. So, when they call something on A. Player...and then don't call the exact same thing when S. O'Neal does it, it looks bad.

    Especially as I hate Shaq.....

Unfortunately, to beat LA is a bit like beating Real Madrid...you have to really dominate. No "we outplayed them 51 / 49 % stuff".

It's got to be comprehensive...and that means dismantling them like the Spurs did last year.

IMO the only team that should get any 'beneficial' decisions are the defending champs in any sport.

Like in boxing, you have to clearly win to get the belt.

It should be that way in the NBA....and the Spurs deserve that 'luck', not LA simply as their 'bigger'.

Re: Did Kobe finally say he is leaving the lakers????

First, I want to comment on the ability of a ref to review a play. I think how it works is that they can only review a play if there is no time left on the game clock. And they can only review to see if the shot left the shooters hand in time. They can't review questionable calls, or calls that come up before the game clock hits all zeroes. That's why they couldn't use instant replay for the game last night.

As for the game, I dunno what to think of the last call. It was a bad angle, but a number of things could have happened, as was mentioned above. Either it was a shot clock violation, in which case, the Lakers would have had the ball anyways. Or, it was a goal tending on Kobe, which I don't think happened cause the ball looked like it was below the plane of the rim. Or, I think Melo got away with a push on Kobe to get the board.

In any case, what happened, happened. They can't go back and change it now. The Lakers won, and that's that.

And finally, onto the topic of this thread, Kobe has been saying several things throughout the year. One, is that he loves the Lakers, and he wants to be a Laker for life. Two, is that he will opt out and test free agency. He isn't commiting to anything else. I think he just wants to test the waters out there just to see what kind of response he'll get. I swear, that boy loves the drama. I hope in the end, he'll stay a Laker. The team will be his in a couple of years anyways. Shaq isn't gonna be around much longer, and Phil isn't getting any younger. Kobe should just stop all this drama and sign back on to win a couple more rings with Shaq, and see where it goes from there. Kobe is still young. He can get another max contract after this one. He'll be 32 when/if this 7 year contract runs out. He'll have at least 4-5 more years left before he calls it quits.

I guess was I saw it wrong. They say the ball hit rim. . . sucks for Denver. I hope they don't fine Kiki for not leaving the court after the game.

Notice the inaction to do anything about the errors of the refs. Notice teh L hasn't said anything to try to come up with a soulution for these kind of things in the future.

Notice the L is a cold place unless you are a ref.

If that is so, they should seriously change/add some things on when to use replay. Its absolute BS when a team works hard and they get shafted because of an incorrect call.
