2013-14 Transactions Thread

With Jameer Nelson and Dragic in trade talks shouldn't the Heat be all over one of these guys? I know Cole has been in trade talks and while I'm not a fan of trading Cole if Miami could get Dragic in return they would surely be more favored to 3peat than what they already are.

Phoenix is wanting to get younger and they want to get a good draft pick. This moves two of their older players off the roster. Cole gives them a solid and young back-up guard, Jones has an expiring contact, and Anthony would likely be waived.. This obviously makes their team worse and gives them a much greater shot at a top pick..

Dragic instantly makes the Heat better, and Tucker is an upgrade over Jones, Lewis, or Mason who they currently have as small role 3 point shooters.

Before anyone hits me with the "how important Anthony is to the Heat" line, let me say that he only played in 14 of their 23 playoff games last season at a mere 5 minutes per game.. If they really want an undersized big man who can hedge screens they could just sign Ivan Johnson for close to nothing and arguably get an upgrade..

Other free agent bigs waiting around, Drew Gooden, Tyrus Thomas, Chris Wilcox, Louis Amundson, Shavlik Randolph, Johan Petro, and Joel Pryzbilla, Josh Powell, Marcus Camby, or even Lamar Odom..

I'd bet money that Louis Amundson could do exactly what Joel Anthony already does for them.. Even though he wouldn't be my first choice off this list.

This should also let big name free agents LeBron and Bosh know that Pat Riley is still ready to make all moves necessary to keep this team at the top.

I like that trade. Dragic is a much better player offensively than either Cole or Chalmers and he could be a real nice spark. He also shoots the three better than either of them and you know he's gonna get looks with those players around.

And you're right. James Jones is basically just taking up a roster spot at this point and Anthony is basically out of the picture, especially if Oden can get back by the end of the season. And Amundson could absolutely adequately fill Anthony's spot, and bring slightly better offensive skills to the table.

No they shouldn't.

It's 2 games and they're not exactly in a position where they need to move guys just because. Not to mention, PG is the least of their problems right now, not that they have any 3 games in anyway other than being 1-2.

This is not true. In fact out of those 3, he had the worse 3pt%(as of the last 2 years).

It would probably be better to look them up on Synergy and see their spot up percentages since I'd be willing to bet Dragic shoots off the dribble far more than those two do. I can't do it myself because I'm not at home right now.

I can't remember watching him actually play basketball in 3 years, but Tyrus Thomas has to be worth a vet minimum flyer no? He's only 26!

Not necessarily for the Heat, just somewhere. Did his athleticism vanish or what.

Do the Heat even have the cap space for either Nelson or Dragic?

Either way they are good Chamlers and Cole have been good enough for 2 titles already no need to potential disrupt the chemistry after 3 games.

Not necessarily for the Heat, just somewhere. Did his athleticism vanish or what.

He'll end up on a team sooner or later due to injury.

I'm not saying make the trade because they are 1-2 after 3 games lol... This has nothing to do with that, I'd suggest this a month before this season or a month into it.

I suggested it because Cole was already in trade rumors before the season started. This could potentially make them much better without losing a current starter..

Chemistry shouldn't be much of a problem, they have the entire regular season to fix that. Adding Birdman last year didn't cause any chemistry issues.

Yeah but how much better are we talking? And it's not like they need his production anyway so there's no need for them to make a move just because his names involved in trade rumors(he's probably not the only one)

If there's one position they don't need to address, it's PG. Unless one of them can rebound and improve their interior D, which are bigger issues for them as we witnessed last night.
