    Re: 2014 Draft Class

I don't see him being primarily a stretch 4.. I think a bigger small forward like Galo is a better fit. He moves too well without the ball to put him in a stretch 4 role.

His play style, role and impact will be in line with the guys I mentioned IMO.
Still don't see it and I've seen him play a lot since they moved to the Big East.

      Look at this:

      <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/2fpbKYyEOiE?hl=en_US&amp;version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/2fpbKYyEOiE?hl=en_US&amp;version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

He gets a lot of buckets inside and is more comfortable with his back to the basket than any of the players you mentioned. He's not as athletic as a young Mike Miller. He's much more complete of an offensive player than Korver. I can see some Gallo in the way he handles it but he's more physical than him.

We'll see how his game translates into the league where he'll face much better athletes. Defensively it's going to be tough for him. Not strong enough to guard 4's and not quick enough to check 3's.

        Re: 2014 Draft Class

Oh yeah, I had no doubt about his comfort level with his back to the basket. I'm just saying I don't think it's Kevin Love that he'll be playing like in the pros.

He definitely has that Dirk funky back to the basket style. Just not as tall as Dirk.

You can see on that tape that he's a wing player first who happens to be comfortable with his back to the bucket.

I think he will have to adjust his game a bit in the pros because he isn't going to be the focal point of the offense. Meaning less opportunities to hold the ball for long periods of time in the post. That's why I see him projecting to the guys I named previously. Especially considering he will be facing better defenders as well.

You're right though, he is much more physical than those guys. I agreed with you on that for sure.

He's more physical than those guys now, but it's going to be different with the level of athletes he's going to face in the NBA. The 4s will be quick enough and the 3s will be strong enough. He's what, 6'8? Doubt he has much in terms of wingspan also. He's going to have a rough rough time in the post. Look at Blake Griffin. Same dimensions as him and can't be a high-level post scorer because of it even with otherworldly athleticism. He's not going to be quick enough to consistently handle the ball either.

I do think he has a place in the league, but a shorter Ryan Anderson is my bet.

Why do we compare players like that based off race and size? It's so annoying does Doug McDermott really has to be compared to every Caucasian player that can shoot? Every African-American QB that's fast isn't Vick.Just off topic stuff like that annoys me.

I agree with you to be honest. With that said, who does Doug remind you of?

It happens much more in the NFL than anything though.

Definitely man. Like I said I agree with you.

I was just honestly wondering what his comparison could be.

The only reason I don't say PP is because I don't think Doug's athleticism (while actually pretty good for college) won't allow him to play like PP in the pros.

I really can't think of a good comparison (nor heard one) for McDermott or Wiggins.

PP was never athletic to me.It was just always interesting to see his fat *** hop off the ground lol.I think Doug on the offensive end will have no problem scoring at all.Him not being athletic is an advantage IMHO.By that I mean he's worked his whole offensive game around not being as athletic as the next guy same with Parker.I think for guys that has a lot of athleticism they struggle a tad bit more in college(Wiggins,Drummond). It's manily because they don't let the game come to them which I think Doug has already shown he can do.

Definitely, guys have to work on their skills when they don't have athletic tools.

PP was pretty athletic in college, just Youtube him. Also, when he got to the pros, he still was able to get above the rim and get to the bucket using his physical tools even though he had some mass to him hahaha.

Doug is probably going to have to play a lot more off the ball.

I honestly think the Lebron comparisons came from people who maybe saw one of his HoopMixTapes on youtube. There is really no way I see them compare except having insane expectations coming out of high school and having iffy jump shots.

As for the TMac comparison, as I think ojandpizza just said he really doesnt have the smoothness of TMac. Tmac made everything look effortless while it seems Wiggins has to work for everything he gets. He can definitely improve on that, though.

I can probably see Rudy Gay, but with much better shot selection and probably a better defender too.

Heard both of these a bunch and they're okay I guess. Some similarities but not that overwhelming.

Doug is probably going to have to play a lot more off the ball.

Your last point is why I made Korver and Miller comparisons.. He's bigger and stronger than they are, and probably not quite the athlete a young Miller was.. But like you said I think he'll end up playing a lot off the ball.. He already moves well to get open and can pop it quick off the screens.

Everything depends on who drafts him. Hopefully he can go to a team that already has an established go-to scorer. I think he can be a solid secondary scorer from day 1 if it's to the right team.
