First loss of 2014 for the Nets. Figured this would be the case after last night's game.

Nets only have 3 games over the next 10 games with their next game not until Thursday when they head to London.

Best team Raptors face in next 5 games is the 18-18 TWolves.

By the all star break, I can see Raptors with a record of something like 29-23. Really, anywhere in high 20s-low 30s would be great by the break.

That 3rd quarter looked like it was crazy. 42 to 40. You don't see that too often. Glad that Dirk is enjoying himself.

Was just going to post that. I'm guessing Mark Cuban won't be sending that tape in to the league office? Nor the one on Kevin Love.

Absolutely should have been a foul, but if it's called correctly it would be on the floor which would give Rivers two shots. He would have to make the first, miss the second and the Pelicans would have to get a tip in with about 0.8 seconds left just to tie the game.

Rivers also didn't do himself any favors by taking six seconds to bring the ball up the court.

EDIT: And if you really wanna get technical, Rivers' pivot foot is all over the place before Monta reaches in.

Rivers was shook but he was in the act of shooting IMO

How the hell would that be a foul on the floor SF? He fouls him and holds his arm as he's pulling it up for a shot attempt. As for saying Rivers didn't do himself any favors, come on man. He doesn't need to "do himself any favors" on contact that blatant.

Watch it again. When Monta first makes contact, when the foul should have been called, Rivers is nowhere near his shooting motion. Once he feels the contact he pulls the rip-through move, something that Durant is really good at. It should not have been a shooting foul.

EDIT: Read your post again and you actually say exactly why it wouldn't be a shooting foul. Because Monta holds his arm AND THEN Rivers tries to go up for the shot. That's not a shooting foul. It would be a shooting foul if Monta held his arm as he was going up for the shot.

EDIT2: I just want to reiterate going forward, if this discussion goes on a bit, that I think a foul definitely should have been called, just not a shooting foul. My comment about Rivers not doing himself any favors is because I think in late game situations refs really look to avoid bailing guys out for putting them in a tough situation. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason Tony Brothers didn't call the foul is because Rivers essentially walked directly into where the defense was. Definitely not a good excuse not to call a foul, but that might have been part of their mindset.
