NBA Rule Change Rumor
Just heard from one of my friends who is involved with college basketball that the next collective bargaining agreement will include a rule that says a player can't declare for the draft until 3 years after his high school class has graduated.
Stay tuned. We will see if this gains steam.Tags: None -
Re: NBA Rule Change Rumor
That would be the best rule to put in but unfortunately it might be a little too late. This would've passed pretty easily if it was during the last CBA period as there were a lot of players that were older and know the benefits of having a restriction like that as it would prolong the average veteran player's career by a few years and keep them in the game longer while grooming the kids.
There are too many beneficieries (sp) of the current system around now that they'll balk at this kind of restriction.
We'll see how it goes but if the NBA really wants this rule to stick then they're going to have to give a carrot to the players on an economic part of the CBA.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NBA Rule Change Rumor
this wont work
im sure a good amount of these college ballers hardly go to class...so if your gonna force them to stay in school for three yrs...wow...consider the graduation rate abymsal
also...if it were passed...no one would graduate...elite players that is...cause they will just leave after their senior yr...
also...alot of these kids come from harsh financial backgrounds...you shouldnt take their oppurtunity to provide for their families awayComment
