Yeah, thought that was a little strange when I saw that. Kind of left field and while I could have easily missed this, I haven't heard a single mention of the Bulls pulling any such strategy. Not that it's that crazy, but this team seriously seems to be playing for one reason and one reason only..

As bad as east has been, still interesting to see the races in playoffs.

Seeing who finishes 1st between Pacers/Heat.
Who wins the Atlantic between Raptors/Nets
Who finishes 3rd in east between Bulls and Atlantic winner
Who makes playoffs between Knicks and Hawks

Based on everything right now, seems like answers to those might be:
      Heat
      Raptors
      Bulls
      Knicks

Compared to the west where only real stories right now is just who gets home advantage between Rockets-Blazers,and which 2 of Mavs,Grizzlies,Suns get playoff spot.

Those east stories are hardly compelling tbh.

Idk what their post All-Star record is without going and checking but the Grizz have had a huge turn around. I wouldn't want to meet them first round of the playoffs if I was anybody right now. They have the experience from years past, they are finally all getting healthy, they have that chemistry with the new guys, and they are playing good at just the right time...

Always a good team defensively but Lee and Johnson have given them even more of a perimeter defensive punch than they have had in years past.. Lee and Miller also give them some much needed shooting.. If only this team had a wing player who could attack and create looks.

Too bad the most exciting of those East stories is who is going to get in the playoffs and one of the teams competing for the playoffs doesn't even care if they make the playoffs.

There's no reason to make arguments for the East being exciting or compelling or whatever. It's a ****ty conference this year and most of the teams in it are going to be completely irrelevant once the playoffs start.

They've been sputtering as of late, losing to a handful of legit teams but their last bad loss against the Wolves makes me question them.

Although the Wolves aren't a terrible squad themselves and that Giorgi guy has been having a Linsanity moment.

With the way ya'll are playing as of late, y'all might just be in the same group as those "irrelevant" teams once the playoffs start and I'm not talking about the ones that are in the playoffs either lol

                  The Pistons come to mind.

Yeah but Memphis is always like that each and every season, because they aren't a great offensive team.. If a team gets hot or gets comfortable playing at their slow pace they become fairly easy to beat.. It doesn't help that once they get down in the 4th they don't have a "go get a bucket" type of scorer.

I do think they would make a tough series against OKC though. If they can control the tempo and keep it slower, also this year they have 4 legit defensive guys they can run at KD. Constantly having a fresh defender on him will be huge. It'll really all be about not letting Westbrook control the tempo..

I think San Antonio pretty much has their number now after losing to them a couple years ago. That and also San Antonio doesn't mind playing at Memphis's pace.

Also Love is the perfect type of player to have against their line-up.. He moves and pulls the bigs away from the rim.. But in that particular game Memphis should have played Davis much more. It wasn't a good matchup for ZBo and he just looked kinda "out there".. Davis looked fairly good just didn't get a whole lot of minutes. His mobility and quickness was much needed.

I'm struggling to see how that is the most exciting story. You just explained why it isn't....

Plus the fact that neither the Hawks or Knicks stand a chance against Miami.

Or Indiana.. At least a Heat-Knicks first round would have great television ratings.. Apposed to what would probably be pretty crappy ratings throughout the East's first round.
