Bottom line, lack of offensive options and players absolutely gassed down the stretch. I don't doubt valuable energy at the end of the regular season was needlessly spent.
Butler wanted no part of that ball at the end and while it was admirable of Kirk to take it upon himself.. Just bad. I'm mildly surprised Kirk missed the free throw, though..
Nene going at Noah at the end was pretty good.

Definitely need more scoring, I'm just not sure landing Melo is the only answer. Though it should be their priority moving forward, but if it doesn't happen I think they can sign some pieces.. Getting rid of Boozer is the main priority for sure. Kinda sucks they have to let him walk, they might have been able to get at least something for him a couple seasons ago.

Obviously I wanted them to bring back Nate and Marco as opposed to signing friggin Mike Dunleavy of all people, but they signed Kirk to a two year deal for whatever reason and only one year deals for those two. The only thing I can think of not bringing them back is not wanting to give them two or three year deals knowing they wanted another shot at LeBron/Melo etc. this offseason.Comment

Re: 2014 Eastern Conference Playoffs -1st Round Discussion Thread
They weren't going to get anything for Boozer. Nobody wanted to trade for his contract.
They came together and went to the ECF in their first year together. Why would they blow up the team after that when they were right? They went back to the playoffs with the best record in the league and Derrick tore up his knee in the first playoff game. They blew up that bench and retooled with Nate and crew. I don't get the stalling and pandering done there?

I dont know, I said it seems like there was some stalling as in they really weren't doing all they could do, and that might possibly be true.
I also think if LeBron wanted to go to Chicago he'd be there already. Melo is probably a really longshot but without Rose being there to help they're basically in the same spot they were with a healthy RoseComment
