I guess Barkley said there are only 3 superstars in the L. Tim Duncan, KG, and Shaq. They are the only ones that can take a team over. It is kind of pointless to post stats of a couple of guys when the entire L can't shoot over 40 something %. Don't get me wrong, those two guys are good, but Nobody is MJ. Don't even compare anyone to MJ. The past IMO was greater than the present. With all they had, had the Bulls had a guy like Shaq on the team, there is no imagining what MJ could've been like. The guy was shooting over 50% through double and triple teams night in and night out.

Don't forget the impact of zone defenses. I think David Stern needs to stop complaining about all the high schoolers coming into the league damaging the NBA product because they are not ready and start taking some of the blame himself because, he is the one who put in zone defenses! IMHO that is contributing to the low FG% of the elite players like AI,TMAC & KOBE etc. more than ANYTHING!

Guys are looking at the FG% and saying these guys are overrated but, do u watch the games? KOBE, TMAC, AI these guys have no where to go! The team spacing is HORRIBLE because of the zone defenses. It's EXTREMELY hard to drive to the basket CONSISTENTLY against zones. And I'm not talking about your standard zones like 2-3, 3-2 etc. I'm talking about defensive guys OFF THE BALL being able to drift and sag off of there man to cut off driving lanes of opposing ball handlers. Bruce Bowen is a excellent on the ball defender, what he does is crowd KOBE KNOWING that DUNCAN and RASHO are behind him and he shades KOBE toward his help 2-7 footers. KOBE sees this and the best he can do is try to create spacing with the first step or a dribble left or right and raise up for his shot that's it, and everytime there is going to be a hand in his face because BOWEN knows that the higher % shot for KOBE to take is the 18 footer rather than challenge the big guys behind him. These guys especially KOBE will still get there 30-40 point games but it takes so many more shots to get there because of the zones and as a result their FG % is going to suffer.

So to say these guys are overrated is a bit of a stretch especially since Stern has incorporated these STUPID zone rules. I don't watch NBA games to see these guys I mention sit around and launch 18 and 20 footers with 2 guys drapped over them all game, the general public wants to see AI be AI KOBE be KOBE and so on. But, with these IDIOTIC new rules u won't see AI crossing up a Defender and Driving to the lane consistently neither will KOBE or TMAC. Stern has limited the more versatile PERIMITER players with these new rules and using the high schoolers as a scape goat for lowering the quality of play (even though they r partly to blame) is garbage.

Do i think any of these guys r better than JORDAN... not even close! I do think their better than Drexler IMHO. But Jordan, MAGIC, BIRD none of these guys played against these types of zones and if they did their FG% would have suffered also. A great player is a great player so, JORDAN, MAGIC,BIRD still would have been great if they had played against the same defenses but, u can't tell me their FG% would not had been lowered if they played under the current NBA rules...

With that being said get rid of these new zone defensive rules and let these elite perimeter players play in the same circumstances that the great ones before them did before we start stating that their overrated

You couldn't be more wrong. MJ was triple teamed and double teamed every night. If he could help whip that Bad Boys team, and the Pat Riley Knicks team, he'd eat these teams alive.
