    2014 NBA MVP

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is expected to be named league MVP early next week, according to sources close to the situation.

    Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is poised to collect his first league MVP trophy, according to sources.
It had been widely anticipated throughout the league that Durant would earn the award for the first time in his career. The most likely scenario, sources said, is a Tuesday news conference to announce Durant's win, followed by a pregame ceremony before Oklahoma City's home game Wednesday night in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Congratulations to Kevin Durant for winning his first of possibly multiple MVP awards. He's right on LeBron's heels for best player in the world and that maybe closer than people realize.

As much as I dislike his teammates, I still wouldn't be upset if he can take home his first LOB trophy too.

Well deserved, the first of many IMO.

The guy is a scoring machine and a leader for his team in many ways.

I fully expected good ole Russ to run on stage and intercept the handoff between Silver and Durant.

Gotta say, it was interesting to see an mvp race, well, be this interesting. Its for once not a, were giving it to kd because were tired of lebron getting it thing. But kd really stepped up his game to a level i didn't think he had in him, and really made this a very interesting race. He truly did deserve this one. Itll be great to see if we can have an mvp race this good in the near future.

NEW YORK -- Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder is the winner of the Maurice Podoloff Trophy as the 2013-14 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, the NBA announced today. It is the first MVP award for Durant, who captured his fourth scoring title in five seasons, joining Wilt Chamberlain, George Gervin and Michael Jordan as the only players to accomplish this feat. Despite teammate Russell Westbrook appearing in only 46 games, Durant guided the Thunder to the NBA's second-best record at 59-23.

Great list except the next 4-5 guys after Harden should be ahead of him.

I am pretty upset that the MVP isn't Lamarcus Aldridge or LBJ. I think that even though KD is second best in the NBA talent wise, Aldridge performed better in the late season and playoffs. He averaged 35 points per game in the first round.
