He also added that Russ was an "MVP caliber" player as well lol.. I defend Russ as much as anybody, but if anyone other than LeBron or KD take home the MVP it sure as hell won't be him lol.

I think it's fair to call him an MVP caliber player. Frequently putting up games like last night where he had 30+points, 10+assits and 10+rebounds says he has the SKILLS to win an MVP. I don't think anyone (besides Russ) thinks he will ever be consistent enough to really deserve an MVP... or be self aware enough to not play stupid when he's not going HAM. But MVP "caliber" is fair.

Westbrook will never be MVP as long as he's on the same team as Durant.

You're right. I just took it in a more literal sense, it was just ironic at the timing because the **** he's been getting this year in the playoffs..

But I would like to see what he could do with his own team. I'm sure his numbers would gaudy, but success might not be high.

Yeah that's just stupid. I'm starting to look at those guys through Kevin Hart's eys.

I think the timing is exactly why he said it though. Durant even said (in so many words), "Everyone hates on you and how you play but everyone on this team loves you and doesn't want you to change." He was pumping up his boy.

I don't even take those comments with a grain of salt, I wouldn't give him calling Russ an MVP any serious thought at all. But, in general, I would agree that Russ is an MVP "caliber" player. There are a ton of them out there... who will never win an MVP, or even put it all together to deserve to win one.

I don't see Russ' shooting percentage allowing him to be a true #1 on a team. He takes some really bad shots and I think he'd take even more. Personally, I'd like to see him on a team with an all star level spot up shooter on the wing across from KD. I still believe he goes nuts bc he feels he has to create something when they aren't fast breaking and the "offense" has put them in a bad spot at that point in the game. If they had a 2008 Ray Allen (or 2016 Bradley Beal)... someone he could still drive and dish to when KD is blanketed, I wonder if he'd be more efficient with his shot selection.

I dont see RWB being any more effective gone than James Harden is right now.

He'd be getting burned on defense and making major mistakes playing like he does right now and the criticisms would be louder.

He'd have a long way to go overtaking a LeBron James or someone who brings a more consistent mindset to the game than what Brooks has him doing now.

Many things could happen to help him win IF he was deserving. We thought Rose would be in this discussion for the rest of his career and he hasn't even played the last two years. RWB will never jump above the current options as long as they're healthy and in their prime but that's not guaranteed.

The real question is if he can get his game to the point of deserving it if there is a shimmer of an opportunity. He's capable... but not consistent. I find it hard to believe he'd ever be consistent enough (kind of what oj was saying).

Not with Brooks there. He enables the mindset just like the reference in KDs speech.

Whenever he's called into question about his decision making they go into the we love Russell speech.

Hate to see it but the best thing that could happen to him is for them to lose this round and they get rid of Brooks

This is true. I don't see him being the #1 in OKC anyway... unless you live in DC bc all of a sudden everyone around here thinks KD's "coming back home" as soon as his contract is up.
