Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I really don't think Melo is that much of a "volume shooter" guy. I don't feel he takes so many shots he hurts his team, or that he needs a ton of shots to score big points. His problem is the occasional ball stopping, but that happens with any player that's going to score just under 30ppg. You can say it happens a little more often with Melo, I won't argue that. The only problem I've had with him the past couple years is he's shot too many 3's. I didn't look up his stats or anything but it just seems he takes them a little to early or settles for them more than he used to. But I think part of that is who he's played for and with in NY..
Point being is, I don't believe Melo will hurt any team he goes to, or be a "bad fit" anywhere in the league. There are definitely areas he can improve on, and he may or may not ever do that. But as far as just fitting in and making a team better I don't believe there is a chance that doesn't happen wherever he goes.
And I don't mean this as a way to bring down Kobe, or make any sort of comparison, I'm just using Kobe as an example because it's easy to bring my point across.. But even with Melo on a bad supporting cast you don't see him forcing up fade-a-ways with 2 or 3 defenders running at him, or not giving the ball up when he's getting trapped. He may hold the ball at times for too long, but he's never really doing anything that hurts the guys around him, even when the guys around him are garbage.
So I hope wherever he does go it cleans up his image some, even if he never makes a championship push. Just because I think he's far more of a team oriented guy than he's given credit. Not saying he's LeBron or anything, he's definitely not that type of player. But his "bad rep" makes him sound like he's just an anti-team guy looking for his own shots.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Who is that guy?
I'm sure the Suns are looking at a bunch of guys with all the cap space they have. I sure hope they don't offer the max to Hayward if they miss out on LeBron and Anthony thoughComment

He's a Jazz beat writer.
Hayward's not a max guy, but we have to hang onto him. He's the perfect compliment to a star, if we are able to get one.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
This Jason Kidd thing is just insane. That dude has gone and lost his damn mind.
In other news. Mark Cuban says they won't be offering any max contracts to free agents. So we'll see how things go for them in this offseason.

EDIT: I was reading an article about the Mavs giving Hayward the max. No thanks. I like Hayward and I think he'll be a great player, but he shouldn't be getting a max contract.Last edited by SteelersFreak; 06-29-2014, 05:02 PM.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Another free agent that people aren't paying the max for? I agree that the Jazz should try to keep him but not if another team is ponying up a max contract.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

I'm hearing that Jason Kidd is only being considered by the Bucks as the coach. He was never considered for President of Basketball Ops.
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine 1m
ESPN source confirms @NetsDaily tweet that BKN "resolute in their pursuit of first-round pick as compensation for Jason Kidd joining Bucks"
If Brooklyn is really that set on a 1st round pick, I'd have to pray Lasry and Edens are smart enough to just walk away and call their bluff.Last edited by Yeah...THAT Guy; 06-29-2014, 05:19 PM.NFL: Bills
