Cap space. Salmons' contract isn't guaranteed. They'll waive him and reap the cap rewards.

They're trying to clear cap space because they think they have a shot at getting lebron or melo im guessing.

I'm skeptical as to whether Atlanta can actually land one of the big fish, but if they do, this is definitely a win-win kind of trade. Lou and Bebe are a pretty nice package for a guy that's been washed up for the past 20 or so years lol

Danny Ferry is just cleaning house. Instead of having Atlanta be in that 5-8 spot it looks like he's trying to press the reset button lol.

Salmons seemed like an okay vet off the bench coming over from SAC. I liked him. Then he started to get some run, cause Casey isn't all that bright sometimes. Then Salmons started moving at about -6 MPH. Then he started turning the ball over. Then he screwed up that inbounds play and missed those two free throws to ice a game vs the Thunder. Sure, he shut down JJ a bit, but he was already dead to me. Thrilled to pick up a nice bench piece and prospect that I really like for him. He wasn't in the long term plans.

Oh, and Bebe could be in the NBA next year. http://www.sportando.com/en/europe/s...tudiantes.html

I bet Atlanta is going to end up with Lance Stephenson after missing out on all the top free agents.

so, how does this trade impact lowry?

It doesn't. Could impact De Colo or Vasquez. He could take one of their backup PG spots. I'd rather De Colo leave but I like them both.

Has no impact on Lowry whatsoever though.

Who will Atlanta be trying to sign here? Assuming they're unable to get one of the top names, they'll most likely go for a wing, right? Possibly sign Deng?

My guess is Bledsoe or Parsons. I think they want to bring in younger guys to try to develop the team, not so much a guy like Deng.

Idk about that. Lou missed 20-30 games last year, and even when he returned it took him forever to start playing at, or around, his level again. Statistically he had his worst season since he became relevant, and didn't play many minutes in the playoffs.

Other than losing him they keep their core from last season. They will move Schroder and Jenkins into bigger roles, and also added inside depth with their draft choices.

I will say though, considering they were still a playoff level team (I know they barely made it in and wouldn't have had the East been decent, but still pushed Indy to 7).. Considering that, I wouldn't be surprised if they moved Horford for a perimeter player. Their back up bigs played serviceable, and they just added more through the draft.

I think this is more getting rid of an older, injured player than it is cleaning house. It's only helping their current rebuild.

I'm not so sure, Teague showed stretches of being a score first guard. And Korver and Carroll would both be better off as 6th and 7th guy type of players. As of now, they were playing far too many minutes in the playoffs from lack of depth..

Lance would move at least one of them to the bench, add some much needed scoring, and be that secondary playmaker for when Teague has it going offensively.

I'm not sure the trade impacts Lowry much though. I highly doubt the Raptors are looking at Lou to be a starting point guard for them.

Don't bring your *** over here starting no ****. You are not worth 8 -10 million dollars a year at this moment, so do not ask for it.

Yea that's why I wasn't so sure about him. Although, I still think he's has a lot offer, even through his age and recent injuries.
I'm not really sure what spot they're gonna try to fill here. When healthy, they're team is pretty good actually.
