    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

I'm just hearing about this for the first time and all I can do is just laugh and shake my head.

It's ALWAYS something with this franchise and I'll never understand it. Ever since I've been a fan of this team, every year it's been something else and now this dude basically wants FULL control and there's a team that's actually ready to give it to him after a year on the HC job?

I guess once in a blue moon people on message boards actually do have inside info:

This is unbelievable though. They hired him with no experience, supported him through all his early struggles, and now he comes to them with a list of demands? Wow...

          Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

Pat Riley has $55 Mil to reload for another run and people honestly think he can't do it??
LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem have all opted out of their contracts for the 14-15 season with the Miami Heat, which will create an NBA-record $55 million in available cap space.
The cap space doesn't technically become available until the players are re-signed, or have their Bird Rights renounced.
Wade will opt out of two years and $41.8 million, Bosh will opt out of two years and $42.6 million and Haslem will not exercise his player option of $4.6 million.
Henry Thomas represents all three players. Thomas later said on Saturday, however, that a final decision had not yet been reached by Bosh.
Bosh will head into free agency willing to accept a pay cut from the $20 million he was owed next year, sources said. Haslem is looking for a multiyear deal that will assure him more guaranteed money than what he originally was owed, though he's also willing to a pay cut.
The flurry of opt-outs to create cap room also makes the Heat eligible to use the $2.5 million room exception in a separate deal to add a role player.
Wade and Bosh decided to opt out after meeting with James on Wednesday.
The trio have collaborated on their contracts dating back to 2006 when they decided to pass on five-year contracts to sign three-year extensions.

Don't the Bucks have Larry Drew as a coach and a GM Hammond who just drafted Parker? Where does Kidd fit in there? I don't see it.

And for Bulls fans I just saw this on Twitter.
            Basketball Forever ‏@Bballforeverfb
Bulls fans rejoice! Nikola Mirotic will be leaving Real Madrid to come to the NBA per the latest reports out of Spain!
In a recent article published by 24segundosenblanco, a media outlet for Real Madrid basketball, they claim that “Mirotic is headed to the NBA” and “his departure is imminent”. Here’s the article translated in English:

Mirotic will play next season in the NBA

            published by Bricepinkfloyd on 27 June, 2014 – 13:07

One of the first consequences of this conflict last month of the season Real Madrid will be the departure of Nikola Mirotic to NBA. If 1 month ago the situation was very favorable so the Montenegrin continue wearing the Real Madrid shirt next season (the player himself said in private the club its intention to continue), the latest developments and conflicts have led to his departure to the U.S. is imminent.

From internal conflicts of costumes to a poor strategy of the club in negotiating the continuity of the player. The club had been months with 2, 5M of clause of escape from the contract of Niko to probe possible substitutes without working in the simplest solution of all: the renewal of the contract of Niko Mirotic. The obstacle was not economical. Thus, from the sports section address already have been probed several players to replace Niko.

In short, Real Madrid loses out with his departure.

This opinion is supported by a lot of media throughout Spain. This may come as a surprise to American media members and fans set on signing Anthony but if Bulls are able to use a sign and trade to get him here they’ll still have their MLE, which could be used on Mirotic. So to those who have their little hearts set on a big splash, this may not mean the end to those dreams. It does however make it more difficult to turn those dreams into a reality. Don’t jump off the cliff just yet.

P.S. We were told he’d really like to wear #12. Sorry Kirk.

              1. The big takeaway here for us is that we're looking to replace Larry Drew.

              2. I actually think Kidd will be a great coach.

              3. Completely agree that he should not be President yet, but I'm not sure Milwaukee is offering him that anyways. Sounds like he basically screwed up and is about to be fired and is now looking for a new job.

              4. Supposedly Brooklyn is now discussing the coaching job with Mark Jackson.

Most have assumed that Hammond and Drew are on their way out, and the owners chose Jabari, not Hammond. Hammond wanted Exum.

I'm still in complete shock and surprise about this.

Like this is basically the 2nd(3rd if you count getting Byron Scott fired)time he's pulled some **** like this on us while basically forcing his way out of here.

                  Wow man....

Got it thanks. If the owners made the pick instead of the GM then he's pretty much toast.

If Kidd walks, which is probably about 95% likely, I want some compensation back from Milwaukee and as for Coaching, gun to head I want Mark Jackson.

@HowardBeck Source: Kidd isn't pursuing Bucks coaching job. He wants to be president of basketball ops.
