Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
donwuan and tmac its only 7 a year for marvin...which is still 4 too many..hes not horrible, but he brings the floor stretching they need, especially since zeller and noah arent ready to start...had it been a 3-5 mil a year contract, i would call it a good signingComment

People keep calling Marvin a stretch 4. I don't think the dude can even shoot all that wellComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
eh 40% from mid and 37% from 3.. its not great but for a role player who you just need to stand at the 3 point line to keep the lane open its servicable..but like i said 7mil is far too much for thatComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I think we disregard SF if we miss out. Maybe see what $ Evan Turner wants or get Aminu for defense. Resign Beas and throw him into the rotation with Granger and Ennis and wait for a starter to emerge. Maybe see how Mcbob can play at SF.
I still hope we throw an offer to Lance, Bledsoe, or Monroe.
Cole/Wade/Beas/Bosh/Monroe would be very nice. Napier, Ennis, Granger off the bench. Kind of wondering why it hasn't happened yet honestly.

How much were the Nets going to offer PP? I keep forgetting the Clippers have no money left so it would have to have been a trade for PP.Comment

Nets had the chance to re-sign Pierce and passed, according to league sources. Would have cost them upwards of $20 million in luxury taxes.

Sources say Nets passed on re-signing Pierce, opting to develop younger forwards like Karasev/ Bogdanovic instead of paying more to keep PP
12:47 AM - 13 Jul 2014
The Nets reportedly were ready to offer Pierce between $6 million and $8 million while Pierce wanted between $9 million and $10 million. However, Billy King repeatedly emphasized that the Nets wanted to be "financially responsible" and others within the organization said that the level of spending last season could not be "sustained in the future," with the Nets liable for the repeater tax if they are over the tax threshold by the end of the 2014-15 season.
The Nets paid out nearly $200 million in salary, luxury taxes and amnesty payments this past season and if they had carried a $100 million payroll into next season, the bill could have been just as higher or higher. Even with Pierce moving on, the Nets still have $90 million guaranteed salaries this season and that's before signing Bojan Bogdanovic and Markel Brown, both of which are expected this week.#RespectTheCultureComment
