I really like Memphis. They play some of the best basketball of any teams not named the Spurs or Dallas. Their High low offense is a beauty.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I guess this goes in here... Paul George working on his post game and wants to play more physical next season/finish through contact. He's also eating right and getting his body right. Hopefully it is a success, that is a big part of his game that he isn't good at. He is pretty bad at finishing at the rim even with the slightest contact. Although I hope he's also working on taking care of the basketball.
Indiana Pacers small forward Paul George intends to add another dimension to his game this season.
"I plan on being a lot more physical this year," George said. "I really plan taking contact and wanting to get contact and finishing through contact. That's the next step for me."
In his postseason meeting with reporters, Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird said he would like to see George post up more in the future.
"Get down in the post. Take some of these younger guys down there and work out of the post, not only to score but to create double teams and opportunities for his teammates to have better looks at the basket," Bird said.
George, 24, said he has taken those words to heart.
"I've actually been working a lot down in the post," said George, who held a youth basketball camp at Avon High School over the weekend. "I've been spending a lot of time there. A lot of it is just working on footwork stuff and a lot of stuff just off the catch."
The 6-9, 220-pound George, in his fourth season, averaged 21.7 points on 42.4 percent shooting last season. That was an improvement over his 17.4 scoring average on 41.9 percent in the 2012-13 season.
Of all the offensive plays he used last season, George posted up just 4.9 percent of the time (109 out of 2,203 times).
George made a mere 27-of-90 shots (30 percent) while posting up, and had just one "and-one" opportunity from those post ups.
George created a turnover from posting up 8.3 percent of the time and also drew a foul 8.3 percent of the time.
To be more of a force down low, the two-time NBA All-Star would like to add some weight.
"Right now it's making sure I'm eating right," George said. "I want put weight on the right way. I've been doing so slowly, but surely I've been gaining a little weight and putting on a little size."
George, who will report to the USA Basketball national team training camp July 28 in Las Vegas, is focusing on eating healthier this offseason.
"I got a chef helping me on what I put in my body," George said. "It's been night and day as far as my performance on the court. That's been the key for me working on my body. No more McDonald's."
George said he is confident his teammates are working on improving this offseason. The addition of 6-6 shooting guard C.J. Miles, 6-10 Croatian sharpshooter Damjan Rudez and re-signing Lavoy Allen will help strengthen the bench, George said.
"We say it every year and we improve every year," George said of the bench.Last edited by z Revis; 07-14-2014, 06:15 PM.Indianapolis Colts

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Late, but only the Bulls would opt to sign a guy who shot 39% from the field (believe it or not, an improvement from the year prior -_-) and moved like he was 40 on the court, instead of retaining the guy who alongside Jo, saved your offense for the second half of the season averaging 18 a game. Guess that play making ability and extra 11 ppg off the bench just wasn't worth the extra 250k a year.
I ****ing hate our team so much.
Meanwhile Hinrich wasn't signed for his offense last time or this time. Say want you want about his speed, but he has one of the better defensive IQ's for a 1 or 2 guard in the league.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
But offense wise, the bulls are right now
-- Boozer, Augustin, Randolph, probably Jimmer
++ Gasol, Mirotic, more minutes for a young up and coming Tony Snell, and some guy named Derrick something....Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I gotta agree the Rockets handled this stuff badly. Putting up pics of players numbers on other guys and recruiting for a position they had whom they wanted to opt out to help them in the process then turn around and not match the contract because it's "untradeable"
I think parsons over values himself but at the same time they didnt. Houston treating players like numbers instead of guys belonging to the team is gonna keep biting them
LAS VEGAS – Chandler Parsons was "offended" when the Houston Rockets went searching in free agency for a third star in LeBron James, Chris Bosh or Carmelo Anthony instead of sticking with him. Now the former Rockets forward is ecstatic to be a third star with the Dallas Mavericks, and a lot richer, too."Honestly, I was offended by the whole process,"</b> Parsons told Yahoo Sports on Monday in a phone interview. <b>"They publicly said that they were going out looking for a third star when I thought they had one right in front of them. I guess that's just how they viewed me as a player. I don't think I've scratched the surface of where I can be as a player and I think I'm ready for that role"."You can't knock them for always trying to get better. [Houston general manager] Daryl Morey is very aggressive, is a genius, a great GM and I have nothing but respect for those guys. And they are looking to make their team better. That's what they were doing. I just thought I could be that guy that could do that."aaParsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists with the Rockets last season as the third scorer behind James Harden and Dwight Howard. Quietly, Parsons was hoping for a bigger role offensively. The Rockets gave Parsons an opportunity to explore free agency as a restricted free agent by opting out of the final year of his deal that would've paid him $964,750.The Rockets went after marquee players like James, Anthony, and Bosh when free agency began. While the Mavericks were interested in Anthony, too, they quickly convinced Parsons to agree to a three-year, $46 million offer sheet with a third-year player option and a 15 percent trade kicker, a source said. Parsons signed the offer sheet on the first day free agents were able to on July 10 in his hometown of Orlando with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban by his side."They really showed how much they cared for me," Parsons said. "They didn't want me to wait for Bosh. They didn't want me to wait for 'Melo. They came forward first."While the Rockets had the option to match, Cuban was confident in the Mavs' maneuver."We knew based on the numbers they were going to have to make some tough choices," Cuban said before the Mavericks' summer league game on Monday.Comment
