Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I gotta agree the Rockets handled this stuff badly. Putting up pics of players numbers on other guys and recruiting for a position they had whom they wanted to opt out to help them in the process then turn around and not match the contract because it's "untradeable"
I think parsons over values himself but at the same time they didnt. Houston treating players like numbers instead of guys belonging to the team is gonna keep biting them

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Would Parsons have accepted the Ariza deal with Houston? I don't think so. Houston will again be a potential landing spot next summer for a big free agent. If they had signed Parsons to a large deal, they'd be stuck with that core. That core wouldn't have been good enough IMO. Houston retained their flexibility. Nothing wrong with what they did and Dallas also got a good fit for them. They can let Parsons team with Dirk to end his career and then after 3 years they can start the rebuild again if Parsons doesn't turn out to be what they want.Comment

Paraphrasing..
"The reality is, to win a championship, you have to be the team who finds a Chandler Parsons, not pays him a max contract"

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
What I don't get on Houston's part, is not extending the qualifying offer to Parsons letting him become a restricted free agent. That's the part that I never understood the logic to.Comment

Based on Heat's moves yesterday & their commitments, appears Dwyane Wade lining up for a deal that starts at about $15 millionBrian Windhorst @WindhorstESPN 6m
Heat renounced rights to Udonis Haslem yesterday. If they stick with their 2-year plan, he seems headed for $2.7M room mid-level.Comment

They had him recruit Dwight Howard then turned around and treated him like just another number. Hilarious scenario that bit them in the behind.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I mean why would they pay him that much? He's not going to any other team. They could literally offer him 10 mil and he would have to take it. I think A 2 year deal worth 20 mil is saying hey you aren't worth it but you've been loyal and brought us championships thanks. Then again Chris bosh isn't and was never worth what he's getting now 5 year 100+ mil absolutely f'n ridiculous. Alright which one of u said pat Riley was gonna make big moves this offseason bc he just threw money and long contracts at guys to stay relevant lol

In Houston's defense I don't think they thought Miami was gonna throw that much money at bosh hell no one thought they would.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
No doubt he should be. But when you're sitting there looking at Bron dip off to Cleveland and he's getting his max money with an opt out that's gonna net him HUGE dollars when he re-signs after that and Bosh sitting on his huge cash now, passing up on that 20+ this year and next under the assumption that he, Bron and Bosh were taking less for a chance at another finals trip to really improve the roster, that's gotta make him feel some kind of way lolComment
