Ray Allen 3rd best? I feel like on that board I feel like Okafor would be the most value to majority of teams. Teams like OKC, Miami, and CLE could really use him.

Also I really want some team with good leadership like the Mavs, Spurs, or the Nets to take chance on Michael Beasley. I feel like in the right system for someone to keep his *** on track and out of trouble he could do some serious damage off the bench.

Beasley played well when he got minutes last year. I want him to land another chance somewhere

              Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

              Just some random input..

I think Miami made enough moves to be a solid playoff team in the east this offseason, which is probably all Riley really wanted until he can target another big name player to try and make another championship push..

But I still can't help but feel that he shouldn't have signed Deng. Not that Deng isn't a good player, but he should have made a big push at Bledsoe or Monroe, IMO.. Had Phoenix and Detroit matched, then go for Deng. I would have loved to see Beasley get the chance to start and given some more freedom on the court. He showed signs last year that he could still be a dangerous offensive player.

Also with the Deng signing, and still no signing of a legit center, I think they are prepared to play exactly the same way they have played the past 4 years now. McRoberts should help some because he's more size that they have consistently lacked, and more rebounding/playmaking that starting guys like Battier and Lewis never added.. Or scoring that Joel lacked.

And I feel a Mario, Wade, Deng, McRoberts, Bosh will be effective with the same scramble, hedge, help, defense they have been running.. But I felt that it was LeBron's versatility defensively, and Bosh's quick feet and long arms that really made that defense championship caliber.. With LeBron replaced by Deng, and Bosh greatly slowing down I just can't see the old system getting them much more than a possible 2nd round exit.. If that. We already saw how weak Miami looked last season at times defensively, everything had to be clicking to perfection for it to be a success the years prior.. Once Bosh, Wade, and Battier slowed down, and Haslem was removed in the rotation for Lewis, their entire game plan took a large hit defensively.. Instead of being a consistent nightmare it became hit or miss.

I would have just liked to see them bring in someone like Bledsoe or Monroe, and then resigned Beasley.. It certainly adds unproven youth and inexperience.. But I feel that adding a new identity and a new system, instead of downgrading their current one, would have been best for them in the long run.

I agree with you but I think the Bosh is slowing down greatly comment is an exaggeration.

We'll see. Maybe the bigger role and more touches offensively will somewhat rejuvenate other areas of his game..

I don't think he's regressed to a below All Star level player or anything like that. And I'm not saying that his overall game is slowing down the way Wade's is... He just looked slower last season than he did the previous two. Slower on his help, his hedging, getting to rebounds, etc.

Idk if he has any sort of knee issues or not, I know he has that huge wrap looking thing, similar to Duncan's. But he was noticeably slower this past season.

EDIT: to simplify, I'm not saying Bosh is "slowing down" as a way of saying his game is regressing or he's getting over the hill or anything like that.. I meant slowing down in a literal sense. Like he moves slower, his footwork is slower.. Thus somewhat hurting areas that made him a great defender individually, and made their team defense effective.

He might be a little slower but he's also admitted that he never really got into last season, it felt like work and stuff like that so he didn't play with the same energy and motivation.

Now I don't think that roster can play the same defense 2011's miami could.

edit: Ah ok I get you.

I'm hoping the more touches and a bigger role from him individually have a big effect on other areas of his game..

Would love to see him at least be a double digit rebounder again..

Either way I expect a pretty big year from him numbers wise. I'll probably take him a round or two earlier than he is projected in this years fantasy draft haha.

It was a big adjustment though 4 years ago. Leaving Toronto after being the face of the franchise/country(basketball wise) and then going to Miami where he wasn't even the 2nd most important guy(on or off the court). Sure he got 2 rings out of it,but it's still an adjustment even after that.

That sounds like a great reason to reward him with a ridiculous contract worth over $23 million a year.

                                Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

I'm not a raptors fan but it seems like in the few games I watched during the 09-10 season that the raptors ran their offense mostly through Bosh. Where as in Miami it wasn't. Which is why I think we see the numbers drop off, that and all of a sudden he just became a spot up shooter. On the 09-10 team the only other guy that could consistently put up large amounts of points was Andrea Bargnani. Derozan wasn't fully developed yet and Calderon was still a pass first kinda guy,

I feel he was in a situation like MCW. No disrespect but MCW would put up no where near the numbers he did anywhere else other than the 76ers bc someone on the team had to score. Now the 09-10 raptors were certainly far better than last years philly squad but my point remains the same. Sometimes certain Stats are overrated bc they don't take into account the situation around them. For example if an above average player on a competitive squad like Klay Thompson went to the Bucks, he's almost guaranteed to throw up better stats (as long as they get OJ Mayo the heck out lol) but just because he throws up better stats it doesn't mean he's a better player.
