Agreed. If they just continue to make all these weird moves they won't have all the fans' support for much longer.
Letting Thomas go, to bring in Collison is an absolutely puzzling move to me. Maybe they have a plan to get an actual starting PG and use Collison off the bench.

      Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

It's a trickier situation than most people think it is.

If Wiggins struggles during the first half of the season, the Timberwolves may not want to deal Love for him. As of right now, Wiggins is an unknown, and IMO, in a perfect spot to be traded. Only the teams that have really worked him out know how good he is right now. The Cavs will see him every day so it's their call to make.

But acting like Love will always be there for the Cavs to trade for is just wrong. He might even get traded somewhere else while the Cavs are left hanging.

It reminds me a bit of Gerald Green. When he was first coming out, everyone saw his athleticism and thought he was the next Jordan or something. You had Boston fans who didn't want to trade him for anyone. Turns out he was traded as part of a deal for Kevin Garnett and the Celtics won a championship. Gerald Green for the most part has been a bust, too, besides one good year (last year).

So again, it's a tough call. I certainly wouldn't want to be the one to make it.

In which case Cleveland will still be a 1-3 seed in the east and a strong contender.

Which is pretty much the whole basis of my argument, they don't NEED Love just for the sake of adding a "star".

Just like they don't need Wiggins to instantly be a Scottie Pippen either. They're going to be a good team regardless.

Where are the Scottie Pippen mentions coming from? I've seen that a lot in reference to Wiggins lately...

For the price, Boozer is not a bad pick up.

The CBA does not allow Boozer to be traded this year.

Whoa... that is very far apart. He'll be going somewhere else if someone offers him a max, for sure.

Really? Why shouldn't he try and get the max? Unless some team is stupid enough to give it to him, he'll like settle a lot closer to 50 mil.

Actually he probably will get the max because NBA GM's are morons.

Al Jefferson was in the trade for Garnett. THAT was a perfect example of a guy with potential for a star. However, the Celtics were putting a team together to go after a ring right away, while Pierce was still on the right end of being over the hill. Different situations but Jefferson was the main name in that trade.

Either way, Green may have had hype but nobody gave him the ceiling that Wiggins has. There's a reason he went #1 overall. And, probably more importantly, the names you should be thinking about are Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony and Deron Williams. Those three put their teams in situations where they had to be traded or the team would get nothing for stars. That's the situation Minnesota is in. I don't think any one of the trades involving those three would be considered "fair" with all things created equal, but they were all better than the nothing the teams would've gotten. Cleveland can wait Minnesota out because either Minny caves or Love walks (probably to Cleveland anyway) for nothing. GS isn't giving them Klay Thompson so I don't see anyone offering them anything more than Cleveland can WITHOUT including Wiggins.

I think it's because Pippen got to learn and grow under Jordan and many see Wiggins having a chance to do the same thing under Lebron.

If that's true about Bledsoe... then wow. I'm all for trying to get as much money as you can but that's ridiculous if he thinks he's really worth that much.
