Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
i put lowry ahead of kyrie because he can and will give you triple doubles, he can defend, he can score, he can make plays, and did i mention he can defend..thats just my opinions though, i like defense more than hogging / chucking if im making a championship team
as for as westbrook goes, he is top 5 at his position, regardles of if you want to call him a pg or sgComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Not sure if both sides would agree but what do you think of this trade in the event that Paul Pierce signs with the Clippers this summer (and only if this happens):
Clippers get: Tony Allen, Kosta Koufos
Grizzlies get: J.J. Redick, Reggie Bullock
I still think the Clippers are missing some key pieces to truly compete for the championship. This trade is basically a title or bust move. They sign PP, though not as deadly of a shooter as Redick, and they also get Tony Allen whom can slow down the likes of KD and Harden.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
For me the top 5 convo gets tricky, because theres so many good point men in the league. But alot of point guards are simply scorers, some are just great defenders, etc. For me if im making a top 5 point guard list, i have to base it off of true point guards. To me irving and lillard arent true point guards, there more so scorers, so i tend to leave them out. Westbrook is the weirdest one to me tho, cuz hes can be top 5 pg, top 5 scorer at the pg position, top 5 sg if you wanna dub him that. I just put him with cp and curry cuz he shows potential to be the best point guard in the leauge if his decision making was better. Only one who probably doesnt agree with his top 5 status is coach nick from bballbreakdown lol.Lakers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Good move for Clippers, lateral move for Grizzlies? JJ surely helps them score and space the floor for their bigs but at the same time they lose their best perimeter defender. By scoring more points, they will give up more points. I don't think they'd accept...they are stubborn and want to do their own share of KD stopping.
I think the Grizz will get a ball handler who can shoot in FA without trading Tony.Last edited by MattUM; 06-08-2014, 06:43 PM.Fan of:

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Would keeping allen be worth it tho? Hes getting older, and hes never really shutdown kd, he just got in his head long enough to make a series out of the thunder, but once durant turned it on, not even allen could stop him. Keeping allen just to slow down kd for a game or two might not be worth it if it allows them to score a bit more. They could ways just draft or sign a new defensive stopper in free agency later, and the next guy to fill allens shoes might actually be able to shoot threes, with this 3 and d type of style role players seem to be turning into.
I still think Tony has a few more good defensive years...his defense isn't about athleticism, it's his techniques and attitude that make him a great defender, an ACL injury didn't stop him so I don't think age will have much effect for at least the next 2-3 years. I don't know about the value of JJ, he's a good shooter sure but he's unathletic and can't really take guys off the dribble, which is what Memphis needs. He's also 29 and will make $7m a year. I think they need youth and athleticism...that's how OKC beat them.Last edited by MattUM; 06-08-2014, 07:00 PM.Fan of:

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
He was ranking them all around there. Regardless Lowry is not better than Irving.
I think the first "tier" of point guards would be CP3, Rondo & Rose (maybe Westbrook?) then the second "tier" would be guys like Curry, Parker, Wall, Irving, Lillard, Dragic & Bledsoe.
I saw on Twitter how the Suns would be willing to get rid of Dragic/Bledsoe for Love. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. They were a pretty damn good team when both guys were healthy. It wouldn't make sense to give up on that after just one year imo, even for Love.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Dragic/Bledsoe/picks for Love would be a franchise crippling move and I'm confident Phoenix knows not to make it. Probably got lost in translation that they would deal Dragic OR Bledsoe OR picks for him.
That would be insane for Minny though. Maybe deal Bledsoe if you don't want to pay him/Rubio and have lineup like Rubio or Bledsoe/Dragic/blank/blank/Pek with the two blanks being guys acquired for Bledsoe/Rubio and draft picks, with other picks in reserve.
But yeah, not happening."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Not exactly sure of the Suns cap situation. IMHO how great the played without Bledsoe if they are giving a fair shot I think they can make a push for Love and let Bledsoe walk just a thought.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
the suns have space to resign bledsoe and still bring in a big contract. they said during the season they wanted to get a star, so im looking @ them going after melo hardComment
