    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

I actually like the Lance to the Bobcats rumors. Gives them a scoring threat on the wing and someone besides Kemba who can handle the ball and make plays. Assuming they draft McBuckets, that would instantly add two scoring threats to a team that needs them.

They would still have a weakness at PF or just general big man depth.. But McRob will always fill that role with hustle and effort, and Zeller could still develop into a strong player.

Kemba/Lance/MKG/JM/Big Al.. That would be a pretty strong line up.. Also gives them the chance to move Hendo. Hell even if they don't want to overspend on Lance, a guy like Meeks could really help them out.

      We're the Hornets now!

But seriously, I do agree. Lance would be a really good fit here. I don't want to overpay and I do have concerns about the craziness factor. But his skills fit what we need. Add him and a guy like Stauskas or McDermott at 9 and all of a sudden the wing positions are a strength not a weakness.

As long as he doesn't do anything insane, Lance would be a good addition for Charlotte.

So now there's rumors of Melo actually joining Miami?!?

Might as well burn that ****ing league down to the ground if that happens.

Well there won't be enough of the basketball to go around, that's for sure, not to mention Melo would bring another ego into the locker room that would need to get sorted out. I think this is far-fetched and I'm sure as much as Carmelo wants to win, I don't think he's unselfish enough to be the 3rd option, or even the 2nd, on the Heat.

I'm prepared to walk away from the NBA in the event that this actually goes down.

That doesn't seem like a good fit to me. Melo plays what, at the 4? He'd get eaten alive by most of the 4's in the league. And then you still have Bosh, who already gets owned every night by bigger centers and has always wanted to play the 4. Miami can still make the finals next year and win with an upgrade at the point guard position, this doesn't need to happen.

If that happens, they might as well just grab Darko and Kaman and assemble the 2003 draft.

Melo played 4 for most of the 12-13 season and excelled at it. He was the one creating problems for the opposing team most times.
Still, I wouldn't want to see this happen and I very highly doubt that it will. My vote is still for Melo to Chicago.

This lineup would make the Finals, but because it's in the East. He'd have bigger problems playing against the 4's in the Western conference.

Seriously, I'm OK with their Big 3 now as IMO, Wade and Bosh have definitely changed as players.. but Anthony? Smh, that's ridiculous. What's the fun in having all those guys on the same team?

Hope it's just a stupid rumor

The Miami Heat's immediate focus remains overcoming a 2-1 NBA Finals deficit, but discussions have begun within the organization about trying to grow their so-called Big Three into a Big Four, according to sources close to the situation.

Called it during the All-Star break :P
But personally I feel we need an elite perimeter defender to take some pressure off LeBron. Melo is more of a luxury than a necessity.
We'll all get a much clearer picture come June 23.

I'll just say this, all the article says is that they're exploring the option. If a perennial all-pro player comes on the market and you don't at least consider signing him if you have the cap space, you're an idiot. I'll call it news when he opts out and makes a visit to South Beach.

If Melo goes to Miami I could see some problems occurring for them, especially defensively. Wade is not the same player that he was even a couple years ago, Bosh is nothing more than a spot-up guy on offense and can get dominated by stronger big men on the other end. That being said, LeBron is still LeBron, and 'Melo could benefit from James' playmaking for sure.

I feel like they wouldn't have much of a bench though if they do get Melo.

Well, obviously some matchups would be more or less favorable for him, but I think he'd be fine guarding against the power forwards in the West. Only one I can think of that would cause really big problems for him would be Griffin.
