Going back a few pages to the Greg Monroe talks, I fully expect the Lakers to try to get him. I think he's exactly the type of player they'll be looking to add this offseason: someone that can help make them semi-competitive now, and someone that can be a core guy moving forwards.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
"Birdman Birdman" is declining his player option for next season and will become a free agent. This is a head scratcher because he will be 36 soon.. So idk if he expects more money or what.? Whatever it is he didn't wait even a full 24 hours before trying to dip. Going to miss the Bird but it's time to reload in Miami.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
So if you're the Miami Heat, what's the plan if LeBron leaves? What moves do you make? Cause outside of LeBron and Melo, this free agency class isn't that great.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
If LeBron leaves I don't think you have a move that keeps them in title contention. I think at that point Miami is a playoff team for a few years, maybe hoping someone else signs on, then on to rebuild..

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Only thing, 2016 isn't looking all that much better if somebody gets Kevin Love and he stays with whoever trades for them. Unless they can lure LMA from Portland or Marc Gasol. Maybe Big Al from Charlotte?Comment

I wouldn't be all that opposed to completely blowing it up and rebuilding through the draft and occasional FA.Fan of:

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I wonder if any off-season discussions happened during the dinner that Bosh had with Bron, Wade and UD. Coincidentally, them 4 are the only members with an ETO, along with Birdman (whose salary wouldn't really affect the cap).Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
i think miami needs a complete rebuild in terms of the people around the big 3 if they return.
in no way is this team we saw a chamionship contending team, they just happened to be in one of the worst conferences i can ever think of.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
I wouldn't go that far as a complete rebuild. I still have the utmost confidence that had it been a different Western Conference team in the Finals (i.e., OKC, Clippers, Rockets, etc.) then Miami would have probably gotten the job done. It just so happens that the Heat ran into arguably the greatest Spurs team-ball of all time, and possibly in the past decade or so in the NBA, where basically every guy stepped up and contributed in key moments whilst posting the second highest FG% in a Finals series of all time. Gotta give props to Pop and co., who literally had a microscope on our offense and made the adjustments on the defensive end.Comment
