    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

The 1st New Orleans is giving up is heavily protected. Basically they're replacing Robin Lopez. Would you rather have Robin Lopez, Vasquez, 6th pick last year (Noel if they wanted) and the 10th pick this year, or Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday?

I like the Dallas/New York trade for both teams. New York adds young depth with Larkin, Ellington and 2 2nds, gets an upgrade at PG and Dalembert can come off the bench. Dallas opens up flexibility for the offseason and gives them back the center they won a title with.

His 20th season, he's 38 now. I remember vividly when he came out of high school into the NBA. It honestly doesn't feel like it was that long ago. 2 things, one is that damn time flies. The other is damn I'm getting old lol.

If the 1st round pick is protected then it makes it way better...

Jazz have made the qualifying offer to SF Gordon Hayward to make him a restricted free agent.

I would like to see Melo in a Bulls uniform next year though.

Btw, that "protected first rounder" wasn't all that protected

RT @clutchfans: Source confirms the Rockets will receive the first round pick from Pelicans next year if it is between 4-19. That's huge.

Conflicting report as Zach Lowe said NO keeps it top 2/3s of lottery and 20+.

And that's the worst part about the NBA offseason we may not really know until some time in July when it's official

So does anybody actually know what we're giving up and what's protected and what not?

Wait, what does this mean exactly? I just read the Tweet. I read it like, if it's 2 or 3 Pelicans keep it or if it's 20+ they keep it. Anything in between the Rockets get

If that's correct then that's not a heavily protected pick

What if it's the other way around? If we just miss out on a high lotto pick or barely ink into the Western Conference playoffs, then we keep the pick, but if our team becomes crazy good or is crazy bad, we lose it?

I read it as anything 1-10 & 21-30 they keep it. Could be wrong though.

Nevermind read your post above. Makes no sense to me if that's the case. They are going to struggle next year and they could get #4 and lose it.

Fractions don't really translate well on here and worded weird. But based off the info I saw it's like what reds said. If it's 1-10 or 21-30 the Pelicans keep it
