How does it not? I can guarantee both of them would rather play with Tyson Chandler than Samuel Dalembert. The Mavs freed up a good amount of space with this deal and they made their long term space even bigger.

If Melo expects to win a championship in his first year with whatever team he goes to, he's kidding himself. None of the teams he's likely to go to are perfectly ready to go win a championship.

LeBron isn't coming to Dallas. Melo has a shot, but I just don't see it happening. I think the Mavs are much more likely to go after a defensive minded point guard to split time with Felton, a guy like Livingston who isn't a big scorer and isn't going to take a bunch of shots away from guys like Dirk and Monta. And then I think they will look for a more offensive minded center to pair with Chandler, maybe Pau Gasol or Marcin Gortat. I don't think you're gonna see Chandler getting more than 20 mpg much this year.

Then finally they're gonna pursue a new 3. Luol Deng most likely and if they whiff on him or spend more elsewhere, such as paying a guy like Greg Monroe, they'll go after someone like Trevor Ariza or Al-Farouq Aminu.

Good point, but I think having him play a role like that is kind of taking away a big part of his game. Dude is an excellent distributor and runs the pick and roll pretty well.

In terms of spacing the floor and having him out there to shoot though, there's probably not a better point guard in the league.

Calderon was a solid player but he often couldn't get on the court in crunch time after Devin Harris got healthy and started consistently outplaying him. Surely, they are bringing Harris back.

SVG has already said the team will match any deal/offer for Greg Monroe.

I mean I guess it's nice in that it allows AD to play the 4 most of the time. Hopefully it doesn't mean that another trade involving Ryan Anderson is on the horizon, but could be likely.

Yeah, Harris can still ball. He was pretty damn good at times when he was in Utah.

It appears to be for a 1st rd pick.
And what's this news I'm seeing on RealGM that the Heat are interested in Kendrick Perkins ... The only way I can see that happening is if OKC amnestied him.

He do the damn thing and take a little less to keep Taj aboard and Jimmy in place and they're looking pretty good in the east. Of course, I don't think he's leaving New York personally and by this time next week, I'm gonna be sitting here shaking my head at another offseason of whiffs, but whatever. I'll have fun with this in the meantime.

I like that trade for the Pelicans. I don't know if Asik is worth a first, but he will pair nicely with Davis and let him stay at the 4 where he is better off.

If Houston actually does that sign and trade where they'd give New York Harden for Melo, that would be absolutely insane. Usually the team signing and trading gets almost nothing of value in return, whereas here you could argue New York would be getting the better player.

I just don't know about the Pelicans... they trade a first for Jrue and now a first for Asik.. I mean.. I get it.. I just don't know how well that lineup fares in the west

New York definitely would not be getting the better player. Just the fact that Carmelo would ATTEMPT to play some form of defense makes him the better player and he's definitely a better scorer than LeBron James Harden.

I didn't think it was possible but Anthony is becoming underrated.

Melo's definitely better right now, but he's also like 5 or 6 years older than Harden isn't he? Harden's still a top 15 player in the NBA like Melo. Would be insane value for a sign and trade where usually you get like a #30 draft pick and that's it.
