Guys, you have to look at the source. KG might have a high school education at best, is far removed from the real world as one can be, and probably couldn't find Iraq on a map. Thus, to expect anything to come out of his mouth that might resemble common sense is beyond his realm.

This is one of the most repulsive things I've read in the OS forums.

Amazingly yes. KG having only a high school sducation and living the life of a sports superstar does not make him sh*t-for-brains. Before this happened, I'm willing to bet that you thought of him being an ambassador for the NBA, coming off as a very smart person whom knows how to handle his status.

He finally says something dumb, which it was, and you wanna place him in the special school for ******s with a "dunce" cap on his head. Plenty have said worse than what KG said and they were college students. And at least KG apologized for what he said, unlike you. And as of right now, he is looking way smarter than you.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

just said he lacked common sense. To be honest, I didn't really have an opinion of KG before this. I don't really get interested in the NBA till after college season ends unless it involves the Knicks.

didnt agree what you said before untill you said you was a knick fan.now i have to agree with everything you say.knick fans stick together so the rest of you back off

I wonder if he's gonna throw out some Prisoner Abuse on Peja and the other Kings.

dude, dont even go there man, ahve you ever been invovled in a critical basketball game, it is physical and mental war, he obviously was nto comparing it to peopel getting shot or dying, btu it is WAR, when you and the other team goes against each other.. dont be a fool.

How is any part of a game war? It's simply competition, the two things are apples and oranges. You might could have a writer use a metaphor (a comparison of two unsimilar things), but beyond that, players, coaches, fans, etc. are disrespectful and naive if they think war can be compared to competition.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I had plenty of coaches in football refer to the game as "war, battle, fight etc". Also, the field is referred to a "battlefield". Where did the reference "in the trenches" come from? Do you get offended when you hear that?

Does this belittle what our troops, and what our veterens have done for this country? Absolutely not.

Garnett's fans might know he eclipsed his career bests in scoring, rebounds and blocked shots this season. But they probably have no idea about Mike Mason, a hard-luck kid Garnett first met in Chicago 10 years ago when he was a student at Farragut Academy.

If pressed, he'll acknowledge he's more proud of Mason than all of his statistics combined. Garnett made room for Mason in his life and his home a few years ago.

"I basically got him through some tough times, and he graduated about two years ago and he has a job doing everyday stuff," Garnett said. "So it's kind of good to know I helped somebody along the way just like someone helped me."

The Christmas parties that Garnett has sponsored and hosted for disadvantaged kids don't show up in news reports, in the fashion of charity events by other professional athletes. Nor does Garnett call attention to the foundation he set up that connects minority high school and college students with business leaders.

Without the media coverage, Garnett has opened himself to criticism that he's just another self-centered, highly paid athlete.

"Listen, you never have enough time to do what people think you need to do for the community," Harris said. "It's a Catch-22. You do things quietly. You do things effectively. And that's what Kevin does."

Said Garnett: "In the community, I sort of march to a different beat. I see a lot of people do charity work to help themselves imagewise. My work, I like to keep it to myself."

Thanks for the sweet story, but what does this have to do with anything? Are you his personal PR guy reviving his image? I like KG, and nobody said KG was a bad guy all-around, he just made a pretty stupid and insensitive comment and he needs to catch a little criticism just as we all should when we do something stupid.

This is irrelevant, nobody said anything about "in the trenches" in KG's statement. Just because you like a player doesn't mean you have to back everything he says. I have no problem with KG, people make mistakes, and he apologized (with Minnesota's PR guy in his ear probably) which is admirable, but he still said it.

A comparison to the field of battle or war-technique is completely different than behaving as if war and basketball were even close to having the same level of prominence and impact.

You're right it sounds like he wants to go to Iraq. Sheesh you got ppl dying and you're comparing a make or break game to warfare.

                            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

                            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

This is irrelevant, nobody said anything about "in the trenches" in KG's statement. Just because you like a player doesn't mean you have to back everything he says. I have no problem with KG, people make mistakes, and he apologized (with Minnesota's PR guy in his ear probably) which is admirable, but he still said it.

A comparison to the field of battle or war-technique is completely different than behaving as if war and basketball were even close to having the same level of prominence and impact.
