Shaq has never been a dirty player like that, he was only trying to break his fall. And obviously the foul looked harsh because Shaq is freakin 350 pounds!

I do remember him breaking Bobby Jackson's hand on purpose.

I don't think there was intent to injure or anything, but he did intend to pull him down by any means necessary to prevent the shot (and looking like a fool for biting hard on the up fake). That's flagrant!

There was no ill harm in that so it wasn't a flagrant. Shaq did the same thing to Ben that everyone else does to Shaq. Every center in the leage wraps their arms around Shaq's head, neck, body, waist, and toe just so he can't shoot. Look at Ginobili and Devin Brown during Spurs/Lakers series. Shaq got the rebound, and those two jumped on him as if it were WWF, no flagrant there, and it didn't look as bad because Shaq is so big and they were so small. If you revere the positions, where Shaq falls on them two, then you would see how much worse it would look.

To get a flagrant foul you have to not be playing the ball, by putting Clockwork in a headlock, he was not playing the ball. Thus a flagrant foul should've been called.

That's my point. If the rule is that any foul not playing the ball is a flagrant, then you have to realize all the "flagrant" fouls Shaq receives. The minute Shaq is under the basket, teams will jump on his head and bearhug him as he goes up.

                              Very true.

Flagrants are intent to hurt another player. The intensity of such an act determines if it is flagrant 1 or flagrant 2.
