These threads are so freaking stupid...So let me join in!
Mikan, Wilt, Big O, Chamberlain, all absolutely dominated their eras.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned Wilt as the greatest of all time? 100 points in a game..Domination.
Why don't 11 championships buy Chamberlain or Havlicek any G.O.A.T votes?
We'll prolly never see another guy average a triple double for the season, so why isn't anybody screaming about Oscar?
Dudes in the NBA looked like toddlers next to Mikan, they had to change the rules because he was so dominant.
But right now, all those legacies mean DICK. Why? Because none of us ever watched, read about or followed those guys night in and night out IN THEIR PRIME. What amazes me is that some of you fellas believe that somehow, Jordan is somehow impervious to the same fading effect that every other dominant player has been a victim of. Thats silly.
If Kobe gets his own Jordan-like team you gotta give him the best SF in the league...Say T-Mac or PP(Neither of which can even touch Pippen in his prime). Then you gotta give him a great foreign complimetary player (Stoyo), a beast rebounder/defender like Big Ben, a slightly over the hill star like Harper(Penny),and one of the best 3 point shooters in the league to rep steve Kerr.
Do you REALLY think that team couldn't reel off 4-5 championships? Lets see that would mean 8-9 championship rings, he'll play 5 or 6 more seasons than Jordan, (no college or baseball ventures) so he'll break most of his MJ's numbers, and since he's getting MVP votes as a secondary player, I expect he'll get at least 3 MVP's as "the man" on a team.
I swear, I would pay BIG money just to see the frustration on some of y'all faces when your now 5 year old brother and his friends laugh hysterically at your dumb, old [censored] when 10 years from now you try to tell them that MJ(and his six rings) was SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than Kobe (with his 8-9 rings), just like if my dad got on this very thread and said that The Big O was SOOOOOOOO much better than Jordan.

GREAT POST. Really.
It reminds me of my neighbor's little 4th grade son. We were watching a Laker game against someone last year and he said, "I wanna be like Kobe."
I bet he never even heard the Gatorade commercial song about being like Mike. It's kinda sad how everyone eventually just fades out and gets forgotten.
I've never seen Wilt play (not even on ESPN Classic), so I have no idea why people think he's more dominant than Shaq. I think of it this way: "What would Wilt be able to do to slow down Shaq?" Same thoughts about Kareem.
Can't blame young naive people for not having witnessed guys like Wilt, or MJ, or whoever.Comment

u compare
C - Ben Wallace
PF - ??
SF - T-Mac
SG - Kobe
PG - Penny
w/ say a Fred Hoiberg & Peja on the bench
to:
C- Cartwright
PF - Horace Grant
SF - Pippen
SG - MJ
PG - Paxon
w/ Scott Williams and Stacy King?
are u serious?
the talent around Kobe even then is far superior then MJ's team.
only MJ and Pippen are better than their counterparts.
u want it even give Kobe a team like this:
C - Nesterovic (in a Cartwright mold)
PF - Brian Grant (in a Horace Grant mold)
SF - Shawn Marion (defensive specialist but can score too a la Pippen)
SG - Kobe
PG - Fred Hoiberg (in a john paxon mold)
without hardly a bench to speak
now do u think that team would win 4 championships? they could barely scrap together one. Jordan won 6 in a row with teams like that. u can not compare MJ to Kobe.
and i wouldn't try to compare the Big O to MJ cuz their eras are too different the MJ and Kobe era is not as different so u can still relatively compare the two.Proud Graduate of North Carolina A&T
