MJ hands down.

Until Shaq can carry the Lakers to a victory in a pressure situation with a flu then he will get my attention. Until then, I say "no contest".

I couldn't agree more. Shaq is just big and part of the lakers, aside from pippen mj was the bulls. He had way more skill and ability

Re: More Dominating Player: Shaq or MJ?

I would say its about even now , and when shaq was at the top of his game (3 or 4 years ago?) shaq maybe had a slight edge. It may be interesting to some that I would say MJ still had more effect on the game. The big difference is that Shaq needs an entry pass, he can not control the tempo of the game , and he isn't asked to make big shots at the end of close games because of his freethrow shooting. For those reasons MJ would have more effect on a game even tho shaq could be called more "dominant". A lot of young people think of Kobe when someone says Mike , just because Kobe has patterneed his game off of Mikes all the way down to the tongue. Jordan was like Kobe , but a lot more intense , you would never see Jordan pout about getting the ball , he would have just turned and gone to the top of the key and GOT THE BALL. Jordan basically played point guard after halfcourt. Jordan's intensity and fire helped fuel his efforts and is part of the reason he raised the bar so high that he can surpass even a great big man like Shaq. Shaq is often underrated by casual basketball fans because they have been tricked by the media to judge all players by "athleticism", "hops", <----and to tie those 2 together "dunking ability","shooting ability" and finally "handles". If a player can do a nasty dunk, shoot the 3 or fake his man out of his ankles the casual fan is instantly impressed. Shaq is extremely athletic for a 7footoneinch person, but he shows that you don't have to be able to shoot or dribble or do far away 360dunks to be a great player. Shaq is the most valuable player to be had this year , as he has been for most of his career. When Jordan retired the first time Rudy Tomjanovich knew that he could ride Akeem so i have to say he about did it, Iverson came close once, tmac almost did one time, duncan looked like maybe oneday he would but he never did, Garnett is always 20-40 pounds away, and thats about it. It has been shaqs nba. Some fans are swallowed by the hype and think that Kobe is actually better then Shaq. The truth is there will always be guards. You can count the top guards of the last 30years off with ease , but the great big man is rare. In history there have been few like Shaq. If shaq was an 80% freethrow shooter (about what the guards shoot) he would have all the post-wilt scoring numbers. He would have 10 straight rings like Russell. He would have been far ahead of Mike. Mike had so many games he won late in the 4th quarter , if it was a buzzer beater or just a strong finish , and Shaq doesn't get to do that because he shoots 50% from the line. The rules are tough on the bigman. Just part of all the wonderful aspects of basketball...

All shaq does is throw his body and dunk. He has no shot, he can't dribble, he's slow, and he fouls and complains too much.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

that was just a very insightful, correct post followed by one so idiodic it's unbelievable

on many days shaq will jump hook your [censored] to death, he has fantastic footwork, is a great passer, he can dribble(he just doesn't shocase that part of his game), and has a great first step. So yes shaq uses his body but you can not say thathe has no finesse game. And furthermore, shaq hs the right to complain to refs the way he gets destroyed down there everynight. Shaq does get a pass on some offensive fouls but with a player that size it is hard to tell when he is just playing or if he is using excessive force. Also many players on the opposing team do not get called for fouls because shaq is so large, it doesn't seem like they are doing much. He is a very talented player and to say that being big is his whole game is disrespectful.
