Just to add on to the series from the West and East. Did both teams not have to play the same amount of games in the conf finals and the Pistons actually were taken to 7 by the Nets. Hmm looks like a wash on that one. Game 7's are the most mentally demanding game in any series. Since the Pistons played in one and LA did not, I think the Pistons were at a disadvantage. But true champions overcome adversity and well they showed that by finishing it tonight.

Lakers style of play, played right into what the Pistons are best at defending. The way you beat the Pistons is running in transition and getting early opportunities in the offense. IMO blame goes on Jackson who has one of the best transition pg still in the game Payton, and refused to abandon the triangle and let the team run. With that said I don't think the Pistons could beat the Kings or T'Wolves if they played them because they push the ball more and have excellent shooters, but its a mute point.Comment

Honestly I am not exactly a Laker fan, I attend LSU and I live in Baton Rouge, and I like Shaq, because of the LSU ties. I am also sort of a late fan to the game of Basketball. I was around for Jordan's reign. I also like Kobe because despite what some people believe Kobe's play on the court at times reminds me of Jordan. I am not saying he is the next best thing just that he reminds me of him at times, more than any other player in the league. Now with all that said. I must give props to the Pistons they beat the Lakers, was not even close. But the Pistons also made their way through a weak conf. un injured, the lakers played two teams back to back who many believed could and might win it all this year. So enter the Lakers banged up and tired from three very intense series and the Pistons who played though a weakened eastern bracket and the Pistons win. Not an excuse just the facts on what happened.

Give me a break. The Lakers may have faced the more talented teams but the Pistons had to play through the tougher series which were more physically and emotionally draining. Between rounds 2 and 3 they played 13 games and were counted out of each series at least once. In fact, had the final round started earier, Detroit would've been at the largest disadvantage since they had nothing left after Game 6 against Indiana. Both Detroit and L.A. got sufficient rest in-between the conference finals and Finals. The Lakers eventually were banged up and tired but that needs to be blamed on old players and a team with little depth. Detroit was a younger and more athletic team and in the Finals that were mostly played every other day, the Lakers seemed to get weaker as the series progressed.
As for the injuries, most teams have some injuries by the Finals. Detroit played through Sheed and Chauncy injuries through most of the playoffs and Ben was hurting by the Finals also. If L.A. was even close in those Detroit home games, you might've been able to make a case for Karl Malone. The truth of the matter is that he was still past him prime regardless of whether he was injured or not.Comment
