Why were losing to teams like a Lebron-less Cavs team then. If Mac's team is better than the Lakers then I'd guarantee you he would never go to the same situation in ORL.

Lakers beat the Cavs in both meetings...one w/ Shaq one without. Bron played in both.

Back on topic. An interesting fact from "Around the Horn"...

No Van Gundy guard has ever avg'd over 20 pts per game. The post will STILL be the #1 option no matter what. Can Mac adjust to going back to reason he left Toronto in the first place? And play hard-nosed D for 48 minutes? If so, Yao/McGrady should be pretty potent.

I was talking about last year before he came.

I am still not seeing the 1-2 punch everyone is talking about. Can anyone explain this to me. Just asking.

Van Gundy is a great coach and all but he's going to need to adjust to McGrady. I'm sorry but to hold him under 20 points per game would be just straight foolish.

It's not so much as limiting McGrady's shots, but he likes to trap and press, which saps alot of energy from the back-court. Coaches who implement a trapping D, usually run a slower, more methodical half-court offense (to conserve stamina) which usually starts in the pivot. McGrady won't have the free reign he did in Orlando, and will have to pick his spots to drive because of Ming (and his 2 defenders) are always gonna be near the basket. His increased focus on defense is gonna take a toll on his scoring also.

Two good things...Ming moves very well without the ball and likes to step out which will free up the lane much better than say a Shaq does for Kobe... #2 is that with McGrady being such a deadly shooter, his scoring shouldn't take a major hit due to Yao's presence underneath anyway.

Van Gundy also likes to work the shot clock. TMac will catch some mean, bloodshot stares from the sidelines if he thinks that he can just stop, pop and pull up for 3s like he did in Orlando.

Not if he makes a lot of them.

My opinion on this trade, if it goes down, is that it helps both teams. And although Franchise might bitch about it, he'll help that team double their wins next year, if he stays. Well, him, along with Cat. They will solve one of the problems that the Magic had this year. No real PG, tho he isn't a true point either. Steve will get his 20-6-6, and Cat will do his thing. Drew Gooden should be better next year also. And he doesn't have to share his position. If they get Okafur in the draft, then they have a rookie center they can start. I think the Magic will be a lot better, and could make the playoffs.

As for the Rockets, TMac helps them right away. Tho, then they won't have a PG to run things. Just old man Mark Jackson. Yao doesn't need to dominate the ball, and TMac should be able to find Yao and create for him. TMac will benefit from a big man that demands attention. I think Howard is being overlooked in this trade also. He still got 17 and 7 this last year, so he can still play. With Mo Taylor behind him, they have a good front line. Now it's just their backcourt which is a little thin, but still good. The Rockets should be contenders from the west if this goes down.

Its way better than Francis dribbling the clock and shooting an airball.

Anyway, if this does go down, which is more likely now, I don't think Mac will have any problems adjusting to Yao's game. This will benefit him, he doesn't have to shoot as much and he'll still get his points since we all know how good a passer Yao is. No doubt those guys are gonna be a powerhouse for seasons to come, both Yao and Tracy are around the same age, that's like 10 seasons, and unless something horribble happens, I doubt T-Mac would opt-out of his contract after next season.
