well if you believe that then maybe you need to watch the NBA for another 15 years, 'cause that's just stupid. And you can't use the excuse "it's my opinion" because opinions can be uninformed, in this case your's obviously is

Yeah whatever you say, I'm heartbroken that you think I'm stupid...
And to everyone pointing out Iverson so called 50 shots a game... well he only attempts a few more than Kobe. He put up 27 a game compared to Kobe's 20 last season, which for Kobe is a lot considering he has Shaq and a bunch of fine contributers around him. Give Iverson a Shaq, Horry, Fisher - guys who can hit shots, and his 27 attempts go down by about 5 or so, fg% goes up and he wins a lot more too.

He IS a great player, but neither he nor T-Mac has hit anywhere near the number of big shots Kobe has.

Oh yeah, and to say that Kobe is a "hopeful" that "hasn't proven himself" over the course of several years is pure ignorance

I didnt say he didnt prove himself over the years I said he hasnt prove he can win without Shaq.

he has won three straight titles, hitting tons of huge shots along the way

        <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Without Phil &amp; Shaq he would of one nothing and Horry makes the big shots.
AI is the most dominate player after Shaq. NO one can D him and I mean NO ONE, thats why NO ONE can stop him the only person who can stop AI is AI.

Who can Stop Kobe ? I can Name Someone FINLEY.
        Check the stats :

Finley may have struggled in the begginning, but an the End he pevailed he is the real Kobe stopper.
I definitely think Kobe is a Great Player, but just not the best.
T-Mac will exceed AI &amp; Kobe when he learns to stop complaining &amp; lead his team to the finals, til then He will always be second to AI or even Kobe.

          Re: whos better

Man, there is some funnay stuff in this thread! I think when someone is not the leader on the team (AI and T-Mac are but Kobe is not, Shaq is clearly the leader of the Lakers) then they shouldn't be on that list! We need to take Kobe's name off and put in another guard, someone like:

          Jason Kidd
Vince Carter (The leader if he wants to be)
          Paul Pierce
          Gary Payton

P.S. Someone asked why Shaq didn't win in Orlando (I can't believe Shaq is now being questioned ) I think I know the asnwer. There was a certain player named Michael Jordan still playing on a certain team named the Bulls under a certain coach named Phil Jackson. Hope that answer's your dumb question !

              Re: whos better

Shaq had an awesome finals series for Orlando vs the Rockets, but after Nick the Brick Anderson missed his foul shots and they ended up losing that first game it ruined a young teams confidence and it all went downhill from there. A brilliant effort for Shaq in a team that got swept.

                Re: whos better

Heh heh, I think we've just got a bunch of jealous Lakers haters in here (and I don't blame you either). Look where all the main arguments are coming from - AI fans, whose team Kobe and the Lakers took to school two years ago, and a Spurs fan, whose team looked just plain silly trying to play with the Lakers the last three years.

Some of you guys are making some good points, but to say that having Shaq makes Kobe no good just opens up a new can of worms that no one can realistically defend. Now we're gonna have to start saying that Kareem was no good because he had Magic, that Bird was no good because he had McHale, that Baylor was no good because he had West, that Bill Russell was no good because he had Havlicek, Jones, and all those other guys.

Personal feelings and biases aside, Kobe is widely considered the best all around player in the league, it's that simple.

                  Re: whos better

Hat, that is a good point but that is your mistake. Kobe doesn't have Shaq, Shaq has Kobe! The main option always comes first.

I think these arguments should hold off until we get into the season because this should prove who really has it. McGrady is getting Hill back. Iverson has a good 2nd scorer in Van Horn and the Lakers are still the Lakers. This year will be a REAL test!

                      Re: whos better

I wouldn't go quite that far. I'd say Shaq and Kobe have each other. Neither one would have three rings if they were alone. But you're right. Let's wait and see how the regular season pans out. I admit, I'm curious to see how Iverson does with no Mutombo and that "clumsy *** white boy" on his team. Maybe he'll prove once and for all that I'm not giving him enough credit. But I doubt it.

Hat Trick has it right, Shaq wouldn't win without Kobe, Kobe wouldn't win without Shaq and neither of them won jack before PJ got there. Anyways, the best player in the league will always be a matter of opinion........ and the correct opinion is that it's Kobe!
