Okay. I'm Starting To Change Mind

About my little rule proposal that I posted a while ago about my proposed alternative to the age limit. After seeing how team USA played, how the international teams played, and just the direction that the style of basketball being played in the NBA is going in general. I'm really starting to change my mind.

In fact instead of the proposed limit of 20 years old I think that the NBA should make 21 years old. That way you insure that players would get at least 2 years of college ball. Even with an age limit of 20 you would still see guys playing one year of college ball then going pro. For example, if this rule was put in last year's draft Lebron James would still be eligable for this year's draft because he'll turns 20 in December despite only a year of college ball.

Yes that may delay players talent high school players like him and Amare Stoudamire that are able to make an instant impact straight out of high school from coming in. However, it would be good for the game in the long run. And the good of the game to me should come before the financial needs of a few. No matter how talented they are. The NBA is big time business and big businesses have the right to set certain qualification that prospective employees must me before working for them.

playing college ball wont give you a 15 yr nba career...being nice will

no top tier prep player wants to go to school when they go top 5 and make 3 mil a yr...so stop dreaming

and besides, you cant "stop" people from working in this country anyway, so it will never happen

So LeBron could just as easily go get a job behind a bar then?

to play in the nba, for american born players, is they are eligible after their senior class has graduated

so, if you tell them they cant play until they're 20 or 21...that can be deemed unconstitutional

Welcome to the club. Meetings are every Monday and Wednesday at 7 pm, tell a friend! The only thing I enjoyed about this summer's Olympic B-ball is that NBA play has been exsposed as being extremely poor.

totally agree with the first poster. if not an age limit there needs to be some sort of minor league system, where we can send these kids who aren't even close to being able to play effective ball. jordan, who is "stopping" them from working, all types of companies have pre set requirements. as long as their is an agreement with the players union (which will never happen) it is perfectly constitutional.

well when we were dominant, we didn't have 18 and 19 year olds running around the league posing as professional ball players.
